Publisher's summary

New York Times bestselling author Melody Anne's sizzling novel of ex-lovers locked again in a game of hearts.

There was a time when surgeon Kian Forbes would have surrendered every cent of his vast family fortune if it could make Roxie Gilbert happy. That was before she skipped town, broke his heart, and sent him spinning through a string of forgettable one-night stands. He never even knew he'd fathered a child - with Roxie's sister, no less. But in the wake of tragedy, little Lily needs a home. And Kian wants his daughter. But Roxie's not giving in or giving up without a fight.

Fearful of her intense feelings for Kian, Roxie ran. Now that her sister's death has brought her home, she intends to take custody of her niece and avoid Kian - easier said than done on both counts. With their wealth and power, the Forbes men are accustomed to winning. And as she and Kian are forced to spend time together for Lily's sake, saying no to everything he wants proves impossible...even though it means risking both their hearts all over again.

Cute story bad narration

Narrator made fathers voices sound like shrill old ladies with high pitched voices. Got a kick that Joseph Anderson who is supposed to have a booming voice was in the highest falsetto. Does no one check how well a female can do male voices and vice versa males do females before they are hired as entire book narrator?

Great chemistry!

I love ALL of Melody Anne's books. I can't remember a book that I didn't make me cry and wish I were in that girl's shoes! She writes the best love stories. I can't wait to finish the next one!

The story premise is old, almost cliche.

I might have enjoyed this story if the “narrator” hadn’t tried to dramatize the speaking parts. She sounded to me like a very poor actor so I quit the story in the middle of Chapter 6. I’ll try another Melody Anne book when she employs a better narrator. FYI, I’ve enjoyed over a thousand audiobooks since 2009. This one I didn’t.

I can't!!

why in the world would the aunt keep that little girl in the house where she and her mother was attacked. also why would any dad agree to it. The rediculousness of the characters are unrealistic. He is a billionaire and apparently the mom that died was a struggling to provide for her family so the neighborhood couldnt have been the best. I just don't understand. I honestly couldn't get passed any of it.

Good story different

Even thought I've read reviews not so nicely put, I gave this audiobook a shot. It was different but I did enjoy it. I think is better to say it was not your cup of tea instead of leaving negative reviews without bothering to finish the story.

Love the Doctor

Kept my attention, and unfortunately laundry wasn't done. Started out with the love story. No long characters descriptions, good narration.

Aggravating (spoilers)

This story was aggravating as hell. There were plenty of aspects that I enjoyed, like the romance. But it spent so much time vacillating between custody, being a parent, and just trying to win over the other person, it killed what could have been a great story about second chances and new parenthood, and a living family. The heroine was selfish and was so bent on showing she can’t be pushed around and bitter, that she avoids letting her Nieces biological father get to know the kid he just found out he had, and then acts like it’s his fault. All he wants is to be a dad to the kid and this chic literally hides and acts like a jerk to him, refuses to talk custody and threatens to run off with his kid. Despite them both having custody by the will, they both fail to act like adults for the kids sake and come to a joint custody arrangement. This entire aspect of the story just pissed me off, because not any of the characters have two craps and put the kid first. Instead they were petty, and played tug of war with the kid who for majority was treated as an after thought by the character. I don’t mind custody battles in stories if they are done well and have some compassionate aspects to them, or validity to the reason for the custody battle, but it was pointless and just made me hate the characters because they acted like a*holes.

Romance at its best.

Kian is an emotional read with a sweet little girl and a little bit of comic relief. You may need some tissues here and there but Dr Kian and Roxie will make the time fly by.
