About this listen

When the naive David Balfour sets out on his quest for a long-lost relative, a terrifying chain of events is set in motion. He is plunged into a world of infamy and violence from which there seems no escape - until, that is, he meets the enigmatic and valiant Highlander, Alan Breck....

Kidnapped is a captivating novel set around Scottish events of the 18th century, most notably the Appin murder, the case of a highlander who was wrongly implicated in the shooting of a government official.

It was an epic journey, moved through clearly exciting.

Stevenson is an extra good writer. Time dated, of course, but I love that. It’s easy to identify with the betrayals and upside down situations. And I loved David’s friend as a mentor and teacher for such a young man.

great story

I thoroughly enjoyed the tale and loved the way it was presented. The characters seemed to come to life and the language was fascinating.

Great znovel, beautiful narration

Thank you to David Rintoul for bring this work alive. It is wonderful that a narrator can make the effort to bring the Scottish vernacular to life.

Not good

I don’t mean to rag on anybody’s favorite book, but I read this for a school assignment and it made me hate reading. I don’t get how people really like this book. It had potential, but definitely didn’t live up to what I thought it could be like.

Fraud

I did NOT order this and will not pay for it. I am very disappointed in Amazon. They have provided no way to reverse this order or to contact them about it. Some how they managed to slipped it to me without my approval. Shame on you. In the future I will not longer order off of the dailey promotional book list. I ordered the free copy of this book (which I got) and was billed $8.01 for the audio version as well. Paul T

Accents difficult to understand

Did not care for the story which brings about the description of ever newer lows in human nature. The accents were difficult to understand. His other works were much more interesting and compelling.
