About this listen

I'm the girl you'll never see coming.

Blink and you're dead - another target checked off my list.

But one night, everything in my carefully ordered existence falls apart. A bloodbath and a car crash later, I find myself in the grasp of four gorgeous, intimidating men.

Are my captors cops, like they claim, or something far more sinister? They sure know how to bend the law. And seeing how skillfully they handle a gun or a knife, I can't help wondering what their hands would feel like all over me.

But I have vengeance to wreak, and no man, no matter how powerful, is going to keep me caged for long.

They think they've caught a wounded little mouse. How could they know they've brought a killer into their home?

I'll bide my time, learn all I can, and when I'm ready to strike...

They'll never know what hit them.

Killer Beauty is the first in a new gritty contemporary romance series from best-selling author Eva Chase (writing as Eva Chance) and Harlow King. No major triggers, just hot murderously inclined men, a deadly heroine out for revenge, and an enemies-to-lovers romance where the girl gets all the guys. Prepare for total bloody chaos!

ANOTHER GREAT SERIES! UNPUTDOWNABLE FIRST BOOK!

Loved this book! I can't help but love the FMC, Decima. She's b@d*ss yet naive as she was sheltered from normal life. It's good to read a book that will keep you guessing and at the edge of your seat, since not everything is as it seems in this book. There's enough action without the book being too dark and avoiding lots of triggers. The multi-POV helps in getting sides of the stories from the guys and Dess. It helps the reader understand the plot better and the motives of each character. There are too many secrets the characters keep from each other. There are also still lots of questions such as who the real enemy is and how her relationship with each of the guys will develop, which will all be answered in the upcoming books. I hope that more background on the guys will be revealed as well in the upcoming books, as well as the connection between Dess and Julius, why he seemed to know her from before. The narration for this book also helped me get into the scenes more as the narrators did a good job in portraying Dess and the guys. I highly recommend everyone to read this book especially to those who loved the Crooked Paradise series.

Action and mystery from start to finish!

A fabulous new series! Dark, compelling, and will keep you guessing. This story hits the ground running with action and mystery right from the start. I love that it kept me engaged and guessing the whole time! The characters are fabulously written and well-defined, which only adds to the amazing world that these authors are building. I can't wait to find out where the story leads next!

I give the narration 5/5 stars, they definitely bring the story to life and help you really get immersed in it!

violence and sexual tension

The book starts off with a massacre in the house that Desi lives in, she iss set free by Anna her house maid from her rooms. she is an assassin. She investigates the house she has never seen the inside of before and finds everyone dead. she escapes into the night only to be captured bt the men who are called Chaos.
During the week she is with them she is drugged, told lies, tells lies and helps them kill a group of killers out to kill them.
It isn't until the end of the book that she finally has sex with one of the men whom she believes is an undercover cop. but throughout the book there is an underlying sexual tension with each of the men. The book ends on a cliffhanger as to how she ended up in the household. now I'm looking forward to the next installment of Killer Beauty.

🔥 fire ❤️❤️❤️

I absolutely loved this series. I couldn’t stop listening. I enjoyed the action and mystery. Not overwhelming with sex like some books I have read in the past. This had a nice balance. Really wish there was more. This was my first time with these authors and won’t be my last for sure.

Love it!

Oh my goodness! Two of my favorite narrators in the same audiobook makes for a happy listener. The fact that it is an amazing book makes it so much better. I love this world that the authors have created. It was difficult to stop listening to it once I started it and I finished it in a day because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I need the next book ASAP!

Good first book in this new series

I was definitely interested in this new series by this author duo past on other reads/listens I have of theirs and I was not disappointed. In this new series, we get to see how a serial killer crew handles finding their missed mark without even knowing it and both sides keeping their real selves secret from the other. It was definitely fun to see the cat and mouse game between them all, and elicited small smiles from me when they were missing the major clues/werent putting 2 and 2 together (its fun when the reader knows and waits to see how everything unfolds).

In terms of the story, I thought it was gripping enough to want me to know more. I will say I didnt connect with the main character as much as I have with others from these authors (individually or in cowrites). I think it was more her personality and lack of social cues maybe, but it sometimes felt disjointed and I in turn didnt connect and root for her like normally do. I think the guys were standoffish (for good reason) so you don't get to see their real personalities come out in book 1. They needed to be guarded (for their jobs and they had a complete stranger living with them and she was sketchy haha). Again, I get why the characters were like this and it sets up the series really well (currently listening to book 2 and I like it so much more). I loved seeing some of the cracks show up (very minutely) in book 1. Talon was a huge surprise for me, I think he is my favorite. I usually go for characters like Blaze, but Talon won me over with knitting haha. And he seems like he would be a total teddy bear and the best head on his shoulders to be honest. I was shocked by some of the turn of events as we got further into the plot, they added more nuance and complications to Des' relationships and characterization, that's for sure. Definitely would recommend this series, I am very interested to see where the authors take it (more to come in Book 2's review later this week).

In terms of the narration, I actually was leaning towards a 3.5-4 stars on this one, which is a shocker based on what these 2 narrators have done in the past. They are some of my favorites but I think some of the voices missed the mark for me. I was continuously shocked why Blaze's voice sounds similar to Des's. You can be a slimmer/hacker guy without sounding feminine. I get Talon would have the gruffer-sounding voice, but I was disappointed with Blaze's portrayal (still an issue in book 2) - this was by both narrators. I think also the male narration made Des sound more whiny than she should have sounded. Its a problem some male narrators have with doing female impersonations. It wasn't all the time, but enough to make me notice. I rounded it up to 4 stars for narration because I think when the narrators were spot-on, they were fabulous and made the characters come to life, but there were too many instances where they took me out of the story with their voice choices.
