Publisher's summary

A top-secret US Army Special Operations unit has been running covert missions all over the world, from leading death squads to the hideout of drug baron Pablo Escobar to capturing Saddam Hussein and, in one of the greatest special operations missions of all time, helping to track down al-Qa'eda leader Osama bin Laden. "The Activity," as it became known to insiders, has achieved near-mythical status, even among the world's Special Operations elite. Hidden from the politicians and the government bean counters, the Activity has been carrying out deniable operations, preparing the way for Delta and SEAL Team Six. Now, journalist Michael Smith gets inside this clandestine military team to expose their explosive history and secrets. Smith has spoken to many former members of the Activity and reveals the incredible truth behind the world's most secret Special Operations organization, a unit that is at the forefront of the war on terror.

Astounding

The book moved right along with very detailed descriptions of places, people, names.
Sometimes difficult to understand the differences in the missions without backtracking.
James Cameron Stewart is a great reader.

Historically Important

This is the story you won't get anywhere else. Quite interesting. Narrator mispronounced a few items but only a minor detractor.

Good book

It was good, but it was a massive cluster fuck about random events and was mostly jumbled instances. Great overall though. Good research.

one of the best jsoc histories out there

I loved the book. Along with Relentless Strike, this is one of the best histories of jsoc that exists. Although o feel like it skewed more toward overall jsoc instead of the Activity about halfway through the book (whereas I was looking to hear only about the Activity), it's still a great book. Highly recommended.

interesting material that sounds on the dry side

I appreciate the material and research that went into this book but I was hoping to read more about Delta Force versus the activity Department. I will finish the audible book I'm more interested in the style of Mark Bowden Black Hawk Down narrative.
Killer Elite is a fine reference book and I applaud the research that went into it. a good book for modern spec ops enthusiasts. thank you

Super Interesting

Very interesting history. Appears well researched and covers more contemporary storylines than I would’ve expected. Worth a read.

Good Story. Difficult to follow.

Excellent Story. But difficult to follow as story jumps around and does not flow in chronological Odrer.

Truly quiet professionals

This was a book I had been waiting for years to finally be released on Audible, and it was well worth the weight. A fascinating exploration of a group that has played an important part in recent military history. I highly recommend this book.
