About this listen

This program includes a prologue read by Bill O'Reilly.

The latest installment of the multimillion-selling Killing series is a gripping journey through the American West and the historic clashes between Native Americans and settlers.

The bloody Battle of Tippecanoe was only the beginning. It’s 1811 and President James Madison has ordered the destruction of Shawnee warrior Chief Tecumseh’s alliance of tribes in the Great Lakes region. But while General William Henry Harrison would win this fight, the armed conflict between Native Americans and the newly formed United States would rage on for decades.

In Killing Crazy Horse, best-selling authors Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard venture through the fraught history of our country’s founding on already occupied lands, from General Andrew Jackson’s brutal battles with the Creek Nation to President James Monroe’s epic “sea to shining sea” policy, to President Martin Van Buren’s cruel enforcement of a “treaty” that forced the Cherokee Nation out of their homelands along what would be called the Trail of Tears.

O’Reilly and Dugard take listeners behind the legends to reveal never-before-told historical moments in the fascinating creation story of America. This fast-paced, wild ride through the American frontier will shock listeners and impart unexpected lessons that reverberate to this day.

An Untold History

I had no idea. I'm so glad it was written and I read it. The details were certainly gruesome and uncomfortable but necessary for it to be understood. It leaves you sad however it also gives the reader an understanding of the mistaken communications and what it cost. I so recommend it to any and all.

Wow never knew - killing crazy horse

Wow never knew all the killing of Indians that was described in your book. Have to think about.... Another book with great information we should’ve been taught in school. At least we should’ve been curious enough to read up on but never did.

Incredible History

O’Reilly’s books are well written, with great detail and furnish a compelling narrative.
This is no exception. Listening to this is a terrific learning experience.
The prologue is narrated by Bill O’Reilly himself which sounds like he is using the Bluetooth microphone in his car. He sounds bored and indifferent. It is when Robert Petkoff tales over that this audible book takes flight.
Overall this was an audiobook I couldn’t stop listening to.

I wondered what happened.

Now, I know a bit more.
This is a sad and painful history we should know and appreciate with the hope that we do things smarter next time.

Sad but true story

This is been a good book, but it describes the sadness of the sin of mankind and how we do not treat each other well.

I love history and this book and know a lot about history too. This book is very much to the scripted from the eye witnesses that were present during the time.

Sobering

So much for 1970’s grade school propaganda— all those “great” Generals, etc., blah blah blah. The only savages were the white men. God help us for what we’ve done to the only real American s.

They did it again

The only complaint I had was that I didn’t want it to end! Anxiously awaiting the next one in the series!
