About this listen

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author of How to Hang a Witch comes a thriller set at a secretive boarding school where students are trained to carry on family legacies that have built - and toppled - empires. Think Umbrella Academy with teenage assassins.

November is as good as dead. She just doesn't know it yet.

At the international Academy Absconditi, there's no electricity, no internet, and an archaic eye-for-an-eye punishment system. Classes range from knife throwing and poisons to the art of deception. And the students? All silver-spoon descendants of the world's most elite strategists - training to become assassins, spies, and master impersonators. One is a virtuoso of accents - and never to be trusted. Another is a vicious fighter determined to exploit November's weaknesses. And then there's the boy with the mesmerizing eyes and a secret agenda.

November doesn't know how an ordinary girl like her fits into the school's complicated legacy. But when a student is murdered, she'll need to separate her enemies from her allies before the crime gets pinned on her...or she becomes the killer's next victim.

From New York Times best- selling author Adriana Mather comes the first book in a thrilling new series that will leave you breathless.

Very unique take on a secret boarding school with different expectations than regular schools & a location no one, not even its students, knows about for sure. Adriana Mather has created another great series I can’t wait for more from.

I wasn’t too sure about this book since it’s not my usual genre; however, it exceeded my expectations & now I’m on to the 2nd one!

Honestly this is probably the most of my favorite books by Adriana Mather I've read all her other books or listen technically cause with my eyes I can't read anymore because I get multiple headaches so I have to listen audiobooks But I must say that out of every book that she's written this series has been my favorite so far all of them are my favorite but this is definitely my top one favorite favorite I suggest everybody definitely listen or read her books because where she goes with them and the story is amazing it captivates you it brings you in to the story and to the character is in it it just keeps you at the edge I honestly hope that some of these books do become ATV series or even a movie one day because I would like to see them on screen. But I still love listening to her novels and I just hope she keeps producing more so I can keep listening to more because she has an amazing talent.

this is the third book by Mather I've purchased, but this would be the first audio version. narrator was good, story was interesting enough, but Mather's other two are still my favorites. I am interested to see how the story continues.

The story line kept me intrigued the entire time, I was on the edge of my seat a few times from anticipation, though some of the twists were expected. I would read and listen to this book again and again.

Adriana Mather has been my new favorite author since How to Hang a Witch came out a few years ago. She’s done it again with the secret society that November is thrust into.
The book kept me captivated and guessing who November really is until the end. The narrator captures November’s spirit wonderfully.
