About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Faye Kellerman delivers an electrifying crime novel of suspense as a young man's obsessive investigation into his sister's death draws him into the path of a sadistic serial killer.

He went searching for the truth. Now a killer has found him.

The more you know, the more there is to fear....

Three years ago, 15-year-old Ellen Vicksburg went missing in the quiet town of River Remez, New Mexico. Ellen was kind, studious, and universally liked. Her younger brother, Ben, could imagine nothing worse than never knowing what happened to her - until, on the first anniversary of her death, he found her body in a shallow grave by the river's edge.

Ben, now 17, is relentlessly driven to find answers to Ellen's homicide. Police believe she was the victim of a psychopath known as the Demon. But Ben's analytical mind sees patterns that don't fit, tiny threads and clues that are derived from other unsolved murders he has researched. Despite his all-consuming push for a real solution to the crime, Ben has hit a wall, until he gains an unlikely ally - the school's popular new girl, Ro Majors, who has secrets of her own. As the body count rises, a picture emerges of an adversary who is as cunning and methodical as deadly. And uncovering the truth may not be enough to keep Ben, Ro, and their loved ones safe from a twisted and fixated killer who has nothing left to lose.

Just Right

Written with enough tension but without unpleasant prolonged terror. Great characters! Went beyond where most books stop to feel the future.

New characters

What did you love best about Killing Season?

A new set of characters.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

A very suspenseful plot, that didn't really have any gore until the end.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book is about high school kids, so a lot of the sex/love made me chuckle.

Clueless

I wasn't sure what I was walking into here, but quickly found myself connecting with and loving the characters for their unique attributes. I read (listen) to a lot of books, at least a couple a month. this one stands out as one of the greats. Narration was perfect too!

woulnd describe this book as a thriller

I have to agree with another reviwer. I would not describe this book as a thriller but rather a comming of age book. If you like tl book about the struggles of being a teenager in a small town then this is a good book.

The Killing Season

I liked the book in general but the explicit romantic and quite lengthy scenes between 17 year olds and all the dramatic pathos was really not very believable and unnecessary to the story. If I was reading the book I would have skipped over as it was I was driving to and from work!!!!

Wow! What a book!

I was reluctant to pick this one up. I'm so glad I did! A definite run through all the emotions. Even though the big action scene toward the end was a bit cheesy, the author redeemed herself with the end. All the characters (except the killer) are lovable in their own special way. Their development over the course of the story was so creative and seemed so natural. I even laughed out loud at some points. What a great way to spend a Sunday morning, afternoon and night.....

Could not put it down. Stayed awake all night several times. New characters, great story line. Do it again Mrs Kellerman. I loved your Decker stories but he'll Decker's gotta be retired by now or dead. Thank you for an exciting listen.
