About this listen

As a Breed warrior and the son of the Order's founder and commander, Darion Thorne is an exacting tactician and a lethal combatant, yet nothing can prepare him for the catastrophic act that forces him to step to the helm of the Order as its leader. With their adversaries growing bolder and more brazen with every strike, Darion knows he must take the war to them before it's too late to stop them at all.

Yet of all their enemies, the one most dangerous for Darion is the beautiful, yet volatile, Selene, Queen of the Atlanteans. Determined to recover four powerful crystals stolen from her ages ago, Selene will go to any lengths to have them. When that goal puts one of the Order's own in the crosshairs, she finds herself locked in a personal battle with Darion, a Breed warrior she knows she should despise, yet who stirs an unbidden desire within her.

With the battle lines drawn between them and a diabolical evil on the rise, can Darion and Selene put aside their mistrust in time to save all they hold dear, or will they see the world plunge into a darkness that has no end?

Contains mature themes.

Loved it! The perfect end...AAA+++

Thank you, Lara, for this amazing series... and while I'm so sad to see it come to an end... WOW, what an incredible end!!!

This book kept me at the edge of my seat just like the rest of the series but it will by far be the most memorable; the characters, the action, the love, the laughs and the tears...heck I'm still smiling. LOL

And to those reading this review, if you're like me and you've been with the warriors of the order from day 1, you will not be disappointed. And for those that haven't read this series, I implore you to do so from the beginning...it's a phenomenal ride!

Amazing world with OUTSTANDING NARRATION

This review applies to all 18 main books in the MIDNIGHT BREED series, but I'll post it for book 1 and book 18 only. I tend to be fickle after five or six books in a series, so it says something that I actually listened to all 18 (and a few novellas) without deviating to other stories. Each one is worthy of a credit (though some are free right now if you're an Audible Plus member). The first novel focuses on Gabrielle and Lucan (an essential foundation for the series), and each subsequent book focuses on another amazing couple. But none of the couples are "throwaways." They all have their purpose in this ever-deepening and complex world of the breed. The more couples that are introduced, the more complex and fantastic the world. Lara Adrian never forgets who her characters are, and always stays true to their unique talents when you meet them again in the subsequent stories. Finally, in book 18, everything comes full-circle back to the "heart" of the story, Gabrielle and Lucan (even though that story is not "their story") in a beautiful climax that has you on the edge until the end.

I absolutely must comment on the truly outstanding narration by Hilary Huber. I mean, from one story to the next, she narrates each character with such unique accents, and mannerism of speech. And she never forgets (when those characters pop up in later stories) what they sound like. Hilary Huber is as equal to the success of this Midnight Breed series as the author.

This is a great series to undertake when you have a lot of travel time ahead of you, or a long task like spring cleaning, because it will take weeks (at least) to get through them all. But it's worth it!

There are several novellas that go along with the series, but I only read a few of them. One that is an absolute MUST read is 0.5, as you'll really benefit from knowing who Savannah and Gideon are, so if you're reading this review before listening to "Kiss of Midnight," stop, and go pick up "Taste of Midnight" first.

Enjoy! And congratulations to Lara Adrian and Hilary Huber.

A great ending to a phenomenal series

I ugly cried at the end. Lucan is still the best of the best. I felt like most things were wrapped up nicely. I would like to have touched base with Jenna and Brock again at the end, but that's being nitpicky I suppose. Epic final battle sequence for sure. Dare and Lucan are so much alike in all the good ways. Tegan is his solid loyal self. One of the greatest things about Lara is how she stays true to her characters. I wish this book was 3 hours longer so we could get an epilog on everyone.

OMG it's over!! But what a perfect ending...or is it??
This made a perfect conclusion to the Breed World or new beginning to allies and family!!

Great, but could have been more

I absolutely LOVE Lara Adrian's Breed series!

I need you to understand that before I continue. This book was excellent and on par with other books in the series.

However, it did feel rushed at times and I felt this could have been more than one book.
In the first chapter, several characters acknowledge that The Order is fighting on three separate fronts. All which must be dealt with by the end of this book. Which the book accomplishes.
Throughout the book previous couples appear as if to remind us of them.

I am saddened that this is the final book in the series. And understand that no matter how it ended, Adrian's fans will never want this world to go away. But she did a fantastic job of a final battle and end to the series.

Quite a Conclusion

I wasn’t aware that this was the last book to the series, it was quite surprised to find that to be true. But with that being said, it was the perfect book for completing this series. They can be many other spinoffs of it, but the ultimate goal of the order of breed warriors were finally able to live without war. The crew that fought to save people from rogue vampires, were finally able to live in peace and work on rebuilding lost trust with humans.

Thrilling

Loved this book. Celine and Darian are great, the sparks fly from the start but it’s the twists in this tale that will capture you and pull you in. Hillary Huber gave a wonderful performance.

Is it over or just beginning?

Mixed emotions to say the least. It was a perfect ending but also the opportunities for new beginnings and side short stories or sagas or trilogies could happen. Either way I have enjoyed this series from start to finish!

End of an Era

am going to be honest… I had this book on my shelves for a year. Every time I went to read it I couldn’t bring myself to because I have been reading the Midnight Breed for so many years. I didn’t want the end to come. I didn’t want to say goodbye, but what a send off Lara Adrian gave these characters I love so much. I wish I had read this sons because Dare was the perfect one to bring the story full circle. Lucan’s book started us on a journey that has spanned so many years and it was only right his son’s book finished it.

Fantastic series!! Must Read/Listen!!!

The Midnight Breed series is now one of my all time favorites! This is the last book so I suggest starting at the beginning. Great narration, exciting storyline and romance that met each challenge with a happily ever after. Bravo Lara Adrian and Hillary Huber!!
