Publisher's summary

He came from the sea....

Determined to guard her kingdom's treasure, the lady warrior, daughter of the king, is the sole defender of the king's gold when the Northmen come. When the leader of the Northmen makes his way to the gold vault, he comes face to face with a long-limbed warrior who refuses to reveal her identity to him. All he knows is that she is determined to die for whatever lays in the vault. All she knows is that she will not let him pass.

And so, a game of wits and strength begins.

Join the lady warrior and the powerful Northman as each tries to outsmart the other, where tall tales mingle with myth and perhaps a grain of truth, and where brute strength does not always win out over all. As a raid goes on around them, the lady warrior and the Northman become so engrossed in their game of cunning and tall tales that neither one realizes when they cease to become mortal enemies and start to become attracted to one another.

Very entertaining tragedy

LOVE this romance, laughed and cried. I was actually seeking out a quick fix naughty sex story full of lustful passion, but chose very wrong and am now surprisingly happy with the choice. I'm teary-eyed not horny sadly, but oh what a lovely clever beautifully written chaste romance. based off Edgar Allan Poe poem.

Beautiful.

What about Gary Furlong’s performance did you like?

This was the first audiobook I've listened to of Gary Furlong's. I thought he did a really nice job in his performance.

Any additional comments?

This short story is an interpretation of a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. What a talent, to read a poem and create a beautiful love story. A love lost a long time ago, finds the future may be all they need for a second chase to be in each other’s arms. I did not want this story to end. It was sweet, yet powerful. A love that surpasses time.

Kingdom by the Sea

This is a great listen that starts in present day, and goes back to Viking era England, just before William the Conqueror came to England. Then ends in back in present day. It will give you a new look at love at first sight. And dated love through time.

Not my favorite by this author.

I have read many Le Veque novels and admire her works. It seemed to me that this story was incomplete; almost a tale but not quite. That was my perception, however it won't prevent me from continuing to select and enjoy her publications in the future.

I want MORE!!!

This story is far to short! Even though it was a little under 2 hours it was still a better love story than twilight. I would re read or re listen to this in a heartbeat and would love to know what happens afterward.

Pure Romance

This book won't curl your toes but it will make your heartache. The author takes a well known poem, Annabell Lee, and stretches it over bone and sinew made of pure romance. it will make you smile. it will make your heart flutter. And it will make you cry. with notes of Beowulf, Wuthering Heights and a pinch of the legend of Rhiannon Sidhe it's a wonderful bouquet of heartstrings to be plucked.

Sad and Beautiful

This is one of the saddest stories I have ever heard. Yet there is a glimmer of hope at the end that had me smiling thru my tears. Yes I was bawling at the end but it was worth every tear.
