Critic reviews

"No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. The Alex Cross series proves it." (Lee Child, international best-selling author of the Jack Reacher series)

The story could have used a little less description of the violence for my taste. At some point it stopped adding anything and was just difficult to listen to. It's still a good story.
The narrator does black men's accents a lot better than white females. Some narrators can switch accents more believably. Also change pitch to get a better pseudo feminine quality in their voice if they are male and visa versa. particularly when speaking for a white woman there are a lot of hesitations which were distracting in a minor way. All that having been said he still did a good 4 star job. Just giving a heads up in case you think that might be an issue.
4 stars all around. good book and recommended.

Good book if a bit violent

I think I might just not be a fan of Patterson’s writing. The story is decent and I like the characters, but for some reason I can’t really get into this series with enthusiasm. It’s ‘fine’. It’s just not as good as I hoped it would be.

I like the story but I feel underwhelmed
