BEST explanation of court cards out there.

This book's greatest value is in the explanation of the court cards. As well, I found the relaxed and witty style of the writing, which was was well-reflected in the voice actor's delivery, quite enjoyable.

It just clicked

So, you know when you have that ah-ha moment and things just start clicking into place? That’s what this book did for me. I love the explanations. And simple terms used to help you get it. This would be a great beginner book or even for those who’ve been around the block a time or two. It is like sitting down at the table with your besties and having a conversation.

SPOT -ON!

I Loved it! Melissa is So down to earth. Her writing style is warm+ welcoming! Like sitting down with a good friend to chit/chat. Having pretty wicked dyslexia, it helps to hear the spoken word of this Book. This particular version of learning is easier to absorb than just reading it from a book.In either case i must focus intently to understand the information.I enjoy the Tarot/Oracle cards. It's an interesting tool to help unlock my connection with Spirit. And I really love helping others when i can. Love You Melissa! Great Job on this!!

Simply Wonderful

I say “Simply” for a reason in this title. I’ve been reading tarot for quite some time and have come across dozens of books and workshops to not only gain knowledge myself, but to be able to recommend to others something they may be looking for. Out of all these courses and books, I have never before found one that was Simple. Simply easy to understand, Simply easy to connect with, Simply interesting and Simply damn funny throughout the book! It isn’t long and drawn out with technical jargon which I can’t stand. It’s a very good book for beginners I would think and an excellent book for those of us who like getting a fresh take on tarot readings. For me, reading can get stale and soggy like crackers left uncovered here in the muggy South. I’ve just enjoyed 5 hours of fun and found practical tidbits of information I have not heard before or thought of myself. As a fairly new reader, I took a course on tarot thinking it would help me become more confident in my readings. By the time I quite the course, it took me months to undo the ball-busting, mind messing shenanigans that course I paid a bundle for caused me. Now, I’m an old dog who loves to learn new thoughts on tarot. This book is truly the first out of all my years that I had a blast reading! Thank you Melissa! I invite you to my Kitchen Table anytime!!

Fun, Easy Listening, Audible Book on Tarot

Hi Everyone,
This review is of the audible version of the book, but I feel my comments would equally apply to the print or Kindle version. Melissa has written an excellent, easily understandable, and eminently accessible book on how to learn Tarot. I bought the Audible version as I drive around the DC beltway doing important cat rescue duties, and I am an avid Tarot enthusiast, so I felt I would rather try to enhance my Tarot knowledge this way while my hands are busy driving. It was a great decision I feel. In Kitchen Table Tarot, Melissa Cynova is down to earth, funny, swears occasionally and is easy to listen to. It's pretty straightforward stuff on decks, spreads, card meanings, and symbols. She gives lots of personal, funny anecdotes from her life with Tarot too. She makes it simple to understand, and you will get a laugh from her stories! So If you can't actually sit down and read the cards but you are doing an activity where you can listen to something that is light but on topic, then I suggest this may help get you thinking about Tarot, then when you sit down with your deck, you're already warmed up. Think of it as part of the exposure process and the immersion of learning Tarot. The funny thing is some of what Melissa says in the book has stuck with me in interpretations and card relationships when doing readings. I look at some of the cards a little differently now when reading for others, I definitely felt I was channeling Melissa one time when the Ten of Cups came up and I could hear her word, "How long can you stand there waving at a rainbow", so funny! So do yourself a favor and buy Melissa's book, you won't regret it. If you aren't quite sure, you can get the sample and have a listen to the intro. I'm sure you will enjoy those 15 or so pages a lot, and help you decide to buy. There's a lot to be said about being entertained while learning! Thanks Melissa!

Jason ;)

P.S. I recommended Melissa's book to a Tarot friend in NYC this is what she said.
"Hi Jason, I really enjoyed listening to your "Kitchen Table Tarot" audiobook by Melissa Cynova recommendation as I drive in rush hour traffic to and from the city. It is exactly as you described - funny, down to earth and easy to listen to. Thank you!", from Colleen.

Great starting point for Tarot

An easy to understand breakdown of each card and story plug-ins from both ancient fables and pop-culture to help remember the symbolism of each. The narrator has a grounded "witchy" voice that made it fun to listen to, in contrast to the some of the other narrators of this genre that can feel a bit airy and hard to take in for "down to earth" kinds of people. This book also lays out some unexpected great advice for people looking to read as a profession, which wasn't what I was originally was looking for, but found to be very helpful when thinking about reading for friends or at parties. This is a great starting point for people who are looking for a card to card walk-through of their deck. I recommend having your deck close by and laying out each card as the author points out characteristics in the illustrations of each.

Great book for learning and understanding tarot

I loved the down to earth nature of the author. She manages to be sincere and profession, while explaining parts of tarot reading that can be difficult or personal. The way she explains the cards (each individually as well as suits, numbers and courts) it so helpful and easy to understand. With the understanding and explanation she gives, it is impossible not to remember. Of course, she is the first to normalize and validate the need to refer to a book during readings. If you are starting out, this is a great book. I listen/read after doing readings for a study project and I really enjoyed this book. I now refer people to it and the 78 degrees of wisdom as must have's in their library.
