About this listen

An unusual heroine, Fiona Hawthorn grew up running free. Without a mother to restrain her, she spent her days riding her horse across her father's fields, or swimming like a sea nymph in the upper meadow lake. Trouble is, inside a prim and proper Regency sitting room Fiona is bound to overturn the teapot or accidentally trip the footman. Her notorious Aunt Honore decides to take the hoyden in hand, but amidst the strictures of the beau monde, Fiona is a fish out of water.

When she was younger, Lord Wesmont was her hero. Sadly, he came home from fighting Napoleon a hardened man. Nothing can breathe life back into his cold heart - nothing except, perhaps, the love of an unusual young woman who regularly turns his life upside-down.

Contains mature themes.

Very well written Regency romance.

Excellent narration to a story with laugh out loud moments as well as OMGs. For those of us who have more accidents than most others, we can identify with Fiona. We also recognize that not all accidents are our fault.

Sweet and amusing

Not sure why the steam rating is so far off, but this is not a soft porn story. There are some passionate moments but just kissing. I hope audible fixes it - I hate that their ratings aren't consistent or reliable.

The aunt in this book is a true eccentric - that's why it's kind of funny but also kiind of bizarre at times. The relationship between the hero and heroine is cute with swoony moments, I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next in the series.

Save your Money

I started listening to the book and the narrator was so bad I ended up just reading the book. Her voice for the Earl sounded like a boy going through puberty. And, all the female voices tended to sound the same. It was an hour of pure torture before I turned off the audio and just read the book.

Stick with it

For me, this was a slow start and padded throughout. I stuck with it because someone else mentioned the aunt's character. Indeed, the aunt does steal the show and is a delight. With a little fast forwarding and the speed turned up, this became a decent listen from the Escape package. I do wish the author had given the H more character and personality regarding his attraction to Fiona. As it is, the only thing we know about his attraction is that it has more to do with his urgent physical needs.

Annoying story, good narration.

Well this was sort or an annoying story for sure. The Aunt was not very funny for the most part, she had her moments but not that great. The characters were okay, the story line and plot was kind of boring. It was a struggle to get through for sure. I am glad it is over.

The story did not flow well. It had potential but the writing was lacking. I can't say I would listen to the next book in this series, This was also a rated G story so for those of you looking for a clean story this may be for you,

As for the narration, it was good, I like Beverly Crick's narrations she has gotten much better over the years and I enjoy her narrations. The men sound like men and she does read with emotion as called for, yelling, crying, laughing etc.. That was what kept me listening.

Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover

Fairly good plot, good character. Good writing. Terrible cover. I almost did't buy it , because the cover said the author did no research or didn't care. The research was well done. The Aunt at times over the top but had redeeming qualities. This is an R rating due to conversation mostly.

Darling story!

I liked everything about it. All the characters were well formed for the readers, as if you could just see them. The story moved along at a good pace, not veering off into unnecessary drawn out descriptions. 5 stars!!

Bore!!!

The Narration doesn’t help, what I can only call a bore of a story. I couldn’t finish it. I found myself getting angry with almost every character in this book! Arrrrggghhh...,,
