Humanity falls...
Trapped in the shower by her undead husband, Morgan prays for rescue but quickly realizes she's on her own. She escapes, only to find that the horror has spread and now threatens everything she holds dear. With each passing moment, death becomes more certain.
Logan returns to his childhood home and teams up with Max, an army deserter racing against the clock to save his family. When the infection outruns them, they face the real possibility that everyone they know is already dead. Or worse, undead.
All it takes is one mistake. As the sun sets against the backdrop of the African veldt and living nightmares walk the streets in the shape of their loved one's bodies, humanity's last hope rests in the hands of ordinary men and women called to do extraordinary things.
For fans of The Walking Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and all things zombie comes your next obsession, a thrilling series that you won't want to end. This is book 1 in the Dangerous Days series and packs a serious apocalyptic punch!

I ran across this series in the included section, Book 0 was enough to have me interested. Book 1 was enough to cause me to loose interest. Why? Well, I don't know about anyone else, but when I am looking for a good ZA book there are certain things I need. Good story. Good/relatable characters, and lots and lots of action. I don't mind a bit of lust/love thrown in on occasion, but it doesn't need to be the center of attention.
My opinion of this series is derived from a lack of relatability to the characters. They spend so much time bemoaning the world (which is likely a thing that would take place in reality, but is not entertaining) and the inner monologue about the love interest between the characters just goes on and on. One likes another, but that one likes another, who in turn is in a relationship with another. Is this the wannabe zombie version of Twilight?
I made it most of the way through the book (just over 2 hours left), which means I really tried to enjoy it, but it just wasn't meant to be. If you want shallow characters who are more concerned with who they are gonna get to shack up with than surviving and spending more time talking about emotions, then this book is for you.

We follow a group of characters through the zombie apocalypse with each chapter from a different POV. I thought it was done wonderfully and found it easy to tell the characters apart. It takes place in South Africa which was a nice change of pace for this genre.
If you like the Walking Dead then give this a go. It is a quick listen that kept me engaged from beginning to the twisty end. Looking forward to jumping in to Book 2.

The only thing that brought the rating down a little for me was that somehow I was not very vested in the characters. The narration (written and verbal) might have been too dry and I haven't really felt emotionally connected to the characters.
Without referring to spoilers, there were moments that I would have expected to tear-up, but it just didn't happen. Maybe it was also because of the amount of characters that were introduced just in this Book 1. It was somewhat difficult to keep track of who was who.
Anyways, saying all that, it was still a good listen and definitely intrigued me sufficiently to warrant continuing with the series, so I hope that the characters start to imprint on me :)
Interesting start, intrigued to listen to the next
