About this listen

Humanity falls...

Trapped in the shower by her undead husband, Morgan prays for rescue but quickly realizes she's on her own. She escapes, only to find that the horror has spread and now threatens everything she holds dear. With each passing moment, death becomes more certain.

Logan returns to his childhood home and teams up with Max, an army deserter racing against the clock to save his family. When the infection outruns them, they face the real possibility that everyone they know is already dead. Or worse, undead.

All it takes is one mistake. As the sun sets against the backdrop of the African veldt and living nightmares walk the streets in the shape of their loved one's bodies, humanity's last hope rests in the hands of ordinary men and women called to do extraordinary things.

For fans of The Walking Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and all things zombie comes your next obsession, a thrilling series that you won't want to end. This is book 1 in the Dangerous Days series and packs a serious apocalyptic punch!

I have been listening to a lot of ZA books the last year or so. I consume them like a zombie nomming a warm body.

I ran across this series in the included section, Book 0 was enough to have me interested. Book 1 was enough to cause me to loose interest. Why? Well, I don't know about anyone else, but when I am looking for a good ZA book there are certain things I need. Good story. Good/relatable characters, and lots and lots of action. I don't mind a bit of lust/love thrown in on occasion, but it doesn't need to be the center of attention.

My opinion of this series is derived from a lack of relatability to the characters. They spend so much time bemoaning the world (which is likely a thing that would take place in reality, but is not entertaining) and the inner monologue about the love interest between the characters just goes on and on. One likes another, but that one likes another, who in turn is in a relationship with another. Is this the wannabe zombie version of Twilight?

I made it most of the way through the book (just over 2 hours left), which means I really tried to enjoy it, but it just wasn't meant to be. If you want shallow characters who are more concerned with who they are gonna get to shack up with than surviving and spending more time talking about emotions, then this book is for you.

I enjoyed hearing this story, I think I had read it previously and enjoyed it then as well. I look forward to the next one. The narrator did a great job as well.

great listen

This is the first book I have decided to review. I liked that it was set outside of the US. The character development is amazing. I was invested from the very first chapter. Definitely going to get the rest of the series.

Loved it

I enjoyed the story for sure, the S.African accents were a pleasant surprise, I thought the story was well written, well narrated and I'm thinking I may try out the next book in the series.

pretty good for a freebie

I found this to be a fascinating story, great storyline character development was good. Kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. I loved it.

Fascinating

I loved it! I can see how this wouldn't be for everyone because it is very graphic. The gore and physical intimacy is described in great detail. There are also alot of curse words used, which is right up my alley, but some may not approve.

We follow a group of characters through the zombie apocalypse with each chapter from a different POV. I thought it was done wonderfully and found it easy to tell the characters apart. It takes place in South Africa which was a nice change of pace for this genre.

If you like the Walking Dead then give this a go. It is a quick listen that kept me engaged from beginning to the twisty end. Looking forward to jumping in to Book 2.

Gripping and Graphic

I would just suggest for younger authors describing anyone from 38 and up as a fumbling grizzled senior your showing your narrative age. I enjoy a story where I can’t tell if the author is a woman, young, or a man.

Nice zombie story

I read a lot of apocalyptic story type books and it takes a few before I find one that catches me so I actually finish the book little own want to continue the series but this one I like I listen to cover to cover in one sit ...I love the characters ...the book had me from the beginning the man reading the story did a great job Theres nothing worse then a good book with a crappy narrator.. the ending left me wanting to start book 2 asap so I will probably start that right now and hopefully will have another great review and no I want given a free copy to leave a review ..I don't leave many reviews but this one I felt was worth my time to let the author know how great a book series he made...

great ending cant wait to start next book!!!!

I went into this book a little blind, not having read the blurb but going on recommendations from other apoc readers. It felt a little jarring to hear South African accents as I couldn't place it until there were references to Johannesburg hihi - but ok, my fault. I am not sure what those accents sound like to a South African, but I thought they were great! The narrator, Greg, is really good with accents.
The only thing that brought the rating down a little for me was that somehow I was not very vested in the characters. The narration (written and verbal) might have been too dry and I haven't really felt emotionally connected to the characters.
Without referring to spoilers, there were moments that I would have expected to tear-up, but it just didn't happen. Maybe it was also because of the amount of characters that were introduced just in this Book 1. It was somewhat difficult to keep track of who was who.
Anyways, saying all that, it was still a good listen and definitely intrigued me sufficiently to warrant continuing with the series, so I hope that the characters start to imprint on me :)

Interesting start, intrigued to listen to the next
