About this listen

A twist of fate proves wildly explosive in New York Times bestselling author CD Reiss’s smart and sexy Hollywood romance about the cost of running from your past to get to your dreams.

Cutting all ties, Kayla Montgomery drives cross-country to Los Angeles. New start. New life. And an unexpected new job: assistant to Justin Beckett.

The Justin Beckett.

The boy band rebel with the cocky attitude and dreamy bed head who casts a spell over his fans and tests the patience of his handlers.

Now at the peak of Mount Adulthood, he has to build a clean-cut, movie star image. It’s in his contract. No partying. No attitude. No groupies.

To tie it together, he needs a normal girl.

Suddenly, Kayla’s swept up in Justin’s glamorous world, and his arms. But the most dizzying thing is Justin himself. Sweet, generous, reliable, and as eager to shed his past as Kayla is hers.

About that....

Those ties she thought she’d cut? They’ve followed her across the country with her secrets in tow, and they’re about to test Kayla’s courage, Justin’s loyalty, and a love that wasn’t part of the deal.

a must listen contemporary/celebrity romance

4 STARS

Lead Me Back is a must listen contemporary/celebrity romance written by CD Reiss. I devoured this story in one day. I adored the chemistry and connection between Kayla and Justin. Kayla is a fashion designer in New York, but has just packed up and moved to L.A. for a fresh start. Along the way she meets Justin in an unusual way but both are intrigued immediately and there are instant sparks. Justin was previously a rock star, now an actor who has a drama filled past. He is trying to settle down and lead a less dramatic lifestyle with the spotlight off of him. He is committed to making some changes in his life and career. Justin waivered back and forth on committing to Kayla because of his past and it honestly took away from his character and was a bit off putting at times. There were some heavier topics in this story that had the potential to make this a 5 star read but I felt that they were glossed over and the storyline not developed enough. Louise was my absolute favorite of the secondary characters. She is Justin grandmother and is hilarious and witty and added SO much to this story.

Joe Arden is a top favorite narrator and I can never get enough of his voice. He narrates with such passion and power in his voice. LOVE IT. Emma Wilder's voice is sweet and sultry and she played the perfect part of Kayla.

I love CD Reiss ♥♥♥♥♥

Her writing is always so smart. The way Kayla and Justin meet is priceless. Everyone needs a Louise, Bless Her Randy Heart, in their lives. It was an excellent romantic story of finding the person who loves you for who you really are and not just what people think you are. ♥

Just what I needed

Great narrators, rockstar and designer romance with Me Too story while getting the band back together. I enjoy a good CD Reiss book and this is a nice addition to her portfolio.

Fun listen

She runs to LA to leave behind her past and runs into the biggest pop star. She becomes a personal assistant and falls for the bad boy of Hollywood.
Her past catches up to her and I found the harassment storyline very intriguing- women are often dismissed when they don’t have the power.
Excellent narration from Joe Arden and Emma Wilder. I felt a lot of her pain and uneasiness.

Good, not great but not bad

The story is good. Didnt care for the narration, made it hard to stay in the story. voices sounded too robotic, or like the narrators were trying too hard.

great listen & good story

I had taken a break from New Adult for a while, but I always enjoy CD Reiss so I thought I'd listen to this one. The narrators did a great job in that they kept my attention on the story. This was a good celebrity romance with more reality brought in than I usually find in New Adult. It made for an unexpected surprise.

oh the drama

Justin & Kayla (triggers: sexual assault, sexual harassment, blacklisting, drug addiction). I enjoyed this book. Kayla is back home in California from NY after a situation happened at her job working for a famous designer. Now she's home with a new number but keeps getting calls for a Justin. Turns out her new number used to belong to rock star Justin Beckett, who's in a bit of a pickle himself. Now he needs get help. I didn't find much humor in this book except when the grandmother was in the scene but this was just a really good story and very steamy at times.. not bad.
