About this listen

For three months in the spring of 1994, the African nation of Rwanda descended into one of the most vicious and bloody genocides the world has ever seen. Immaculée Ilibagiza, a young university student, miraculously survived the savage killing spree that left most of her family, friends, and a million of her fellow citizens dead. Immaculée's remarkable story of survival was documented in her first book, Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust.

In Led By Faith, Immaculée takes us with her as her remarkable journey continues. Through her simple and eloquent voice, we experience her hardships and heartache as she struggles to survive and to find meaning and purpose in the aftermath of the holocaust. It is the story of a naïve and vulnerable young woman, orphaned and alone, navigating through a bleak and dangerously hostile world with only an abiding faith in God to guide and protect her.

Immaculée fends off sinister new predators, seeks out and comforts scores of children orphaned by the genocide, and searches for love and companionship in a land where hatred still flourishes. Then, fearing again for her safety as Rwanda's war-crime trials begin, Immaculée flees to America to begin a new chapter of her life as a refugee and immigrant - a stranger in a strange land.

With the same courage and faith in God that led her through the darkness of genocide, Immaculée discovers a new life that was beyond her wildest dreams as a small girl in a tiny village in one of Africa's poorest countries.

It is in the United States, her adopted country, where Immaculée can finally look back at all that has happened to her and truly understand why God spared her life . . . so that she would be left to tell her story to the world.

Life changing…

Her child-like dependency on God came to when I needed it most. I had been abandoned by everyone I called friend and was beginning to feel like God abandoned me as well. To see how often her prayers were answered because she relied on God for EVERYTHING gave me a new perspective of His character and His love. Thank you.

A marvelous factual heartrending story

This story is an eyeopener to the facts of the genocide in Rwanda by one who was in the middle of it and was very close to being discovered and brutally murdered herself. Her ability to have genuinely forgiven all the killers, especially the man who killed some of her family, is amazing and powerful. This audiobook is very professionally narrated by Lisa Renee Pitts.

Immaculee is an amazing individual. Reading this book reminded me we must trust God for all things in our life big and small.

Left to Tell is a hard act to follow.

I really liked Led by Faith and I am so grateful for the follow up story. It wasn't quite the Five stars that "Left to Tell" would get. I would almost recommend listening to this one first and then getting the original story. I actually bought Led by Faith before getting Left to Tell. It is a more peaceful, less on the edge of your seat story.

A Message to Share

I have read this book prior to listening on Audible. The message, told in first person by the author, facilitated some much-needed healing in my life. My boys experienced the same tragedy that I did. Finding this brutally honest book in audible form has allowed them to heal as well and for me to share my journey with them.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Immaculee. Your willingness to share God’s grace in your life, along with your human frailties and temptations to doubt, convict me. God Bless

Great example of trusting in God

Just hearing the account of all of these events in her life where God delivered on her requests certainly bolsters my faith

I loved that her intersection was through our Blessed Mother, and her worries were always taken care by Jesus 🙏🏼

Interesting perspective

I wasn't sure if I liked this at first. The writing is very direct and simple which isn't bad but sometimes felt a little flat. However, I did enjoy being inside her head. She can be a bit repetitive but hearing her talk about her faith gave me a different perspective into her Catholic prayer life and her relationship with God. Basically this book is following her prayers throughout her journey. It's rare to get to hear a person's perspective on their relationship with God that just presents itself as it is instead of preaching it to you.

After reading left to tell…

I never thought that any book could compare to my favorite book left to tell by immaculate, however this book is such a testimony to our father’s faithfulness and love.
