About this listen

In the second thrilling novel in New York Times best-selling author Lisa Scottoline's Rosato & Associates series, a successful lawyer now finds herself on the opposite side of the bench when she's framed for murder.

Benedetta "Bennie" Rosato is a maverick lawyer who prosecutes police misconduct and excessive-force cases, and business at her firm has never been better.

Then, without warning, a savage murder tears the firm apart. All evidence points to Bennie, who has motive aplenty and an unconfirmable alibi. Her world turns upside down as the lawyer becomes the client and the cops she once prosecuted are now after her with a vengeance.

To prove her innocence, Bennie probes deep into the murder. Then another killing takes place. Running for her life, Bennie is a fugitive armed only with her wits and courage. She will find the real killer - or die trying.

Ms Scottoline does a good job or writing her books. the flow and ebb of the story is always spot on. It's been a while since I've listened to one of books and I'm not sure how I missed this one before. I enjoy the reader as well. She has done a good job on the Scottoline books and I've missed her on some of the recent ones.

another Good Scottoline Book

Kate did a great job narrating with the different voices, accents and tone. It was easy to stay engaged and follow along

Narrator is great

the story had such a unrealistic plot. not Lisa's best work. the situations the main character got into were redicilous.

Always enjoyable. Legal Tender took me on and adventure. I admit I was confused between rowing and running. It was a race to keep up. If only I had Benie's energy!

I really enjoyed the book but at times a little too much going on but it was worth it

I listened to the Audible version of LEGAL TENDER which Kate Burton read at such a rapid speed I had to check the setting on my app. Twice. Other than that, her narration was above average, but not as exceptional as some of the other readers of Lisa Scottoline’s novels.

LEGAL TENDER is one of Scottoline’s earlier works, yet still has the humor and attention to detail of her later series’ books. I prefer her stand alone works, but wanted to go back and revisit her first novels.

If you’re a fan, you’ll love the book. If you’re not yet, start with her later works.

Above average but forgettable

This was an entertaining listen. I always wanted to read Lisa's stories because I enjoyed her column Chick Wit in the Philadelphia Inquirer during the late 00's.
FF 15 years - I looked for the "best" one of her novels and agree this was great! I really enjoyed listening back to how the city used to be, how women acted and behaved, and most of all - flashback to the technology! I was 14 and entering highschool when this book was published. I got a rich texture to the city I loved less than a decade later in my 20s.

The Philadelphian millennial says "yes"

The aithor takes care in providing detail about the specific regional accents of the characters & the narrator does not get a single one right. I grew up in the area & went to UPenn on scholarship so I know how the voices should have sounded. She does not even pronounce Schuylkill properly!!! I like the author and will continue to listen to her work but PLEASE hire appropriate narrators for her books.

Narrator does NOT know Philly

book one that I’m surprised I finished. There was potential for a plausible murder mystery but the author apparently decided to turn it into something akin to a bad TV episode. Maybe that was the intent. I don’t mind suspending my critical thinking here and there but 80% of the plot required it in this bad melodrama.

A string of improbable scenarios makes this

It was an exciting story! Bennie, main character, had a sense of humor even during danger

Great job on accents and different gender voices
