Publisher's summary

Imagine the worst thing a friend could ever do.

This is worse.

When Mel receives an unexpected email from her oldest friend Abi, it brings back memories she thought she had buried forever. Their friendship belonged in the past. To those carefree days at university.

But Abi is in trouble and needs Mel’s help, and she wants a place to stay. Just for a few days, while she sorts things out. It’s the least Mel can do.

After all, friends look out for each other, don’t they?

I Invited Her In is a blistering tale of wanting what you can’t have, jealousy, and revenge from Sunday Times best-seller Adele Parks.

Joanne Froggatt!!!!

Is the best narrator ever in my book. I saw this book in my recommendations and I almost overlooked it because the art they chose looked cheesy but as soon as I saw Joanne F was the narrator I didn’t even read the synopsis I bought it immediately as the last and only book she narrated was so darn good! I listened to it in two days, a record I think!

This book filled me with rage so much so I was shaking at times in fury. And thankfully no one was at home when I was yelling at the characters while cooking dinner! This book brings a whole new meaning to the adage ‘hell hath no fury...’

The narration is top notch, but the book itself is a slow burn and I actually think it could have been edited much shorter. For the first half I was wondering if they were ever going to get to the meat of the story, but when it does it’s a wild ride. I had to keep telling myself it’s just a book because I was entirely too embroiled in the story. The concept was new to me which was refreshing because so many thrillers these days go by a similar formula and insist an implausible twist is what readers want. This book is worth a credit for Joanne’s narration alone!

Really Good Story- Unnecessary Explicit Scenes

Thought this was a great story and Joanne Froggat (Anna : ) is an awesome narrator. I found some of the sexual scenes a bit much- especially given the nature of the characters (don't want to add a spoiler).

It was a good book. Funny.

It was a good book. Funny. I kept thinking for God's sake, freaking tell him already! It's fairly easy to guess the direction of the book, it's Mel who's the hold out.

Well Done, I will Be Reading More From Adele Parks

'I Invited Her In' is a wonderful title for this novel. I was very impressed with Ms. Parks writing style as this is the first one of her books I have listened to.

A wife and mother of three allows an old college friend to come and stay with her as she's down on her luck and in the midst of a divorce. The problem is, her house guest has another reason for staying with her old friend. As the story unravels, tension sparks, tempers flare and a once-tight-knit family is on the verge of destruction.

What I liked most about Parks is that she made the villain of the story sort of likable. For the first time, I felt like the villain had a reason to be angry. I enjoyed the characters and the entire story, and I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Parks.

Melanie

I enjoyed the story overall, but I do not like characters like Melanie. She was the worse.
