About this listen

For John Charming, living the dream just became a nightmare. Someone, somewhere, is reading a magic book that is reading them right back. Real life is becoming a fairytale: high school students are turning, quite literally, into zombies, subway workers into dwarves, drug addicts into vampires.

John Charming and his motley band of monster hunters are racing to find the villain of this story, following the yellow brick road through a not so wonderful wonderland. And if they can't find Reader Zero before the book is closed, there won't be a happily ever after again.

Very good narration in my opinion. The is no. 1 in importance for audiobooks, in my opinion.

I think the very first book was a level above the others, and got me hooked for the series. I would gladly use a credit if more of this series were to come to audible.

It looks like it has been a few years since book 5 came out, so I am not holding my breath, I would recommend the series for the contemporary fantasy fans out there.

I would vote for more of this series

I found book 1 of the series through one of those sales audible runs all the time, 8 years after it had been published. I was hooked! I've spent the past week or two immersed in John Charming's world, laughing, crying, chewing on my nails, manicure be damned. Apparently, the author hasn't published anything else, and now I have to figure out what to do with my life and reprioritize sh-- er, stuff.

And they lived something something ever after?

Elliott James is my new favorite author, or among top 10. There’s action, crazy stuff going on, some seriously serious subjects, about life and it’s meaning or substance, about reality. And his main character, I so love John Charming. Humor is packed in anywhere and everywhere.
I sometimes get lost in the explanations of physical combat. Left elbow came back in some fighting style, then a whatever pivot to etc etc. I like knowing what’s going on but author must have real martial arts training, and some connection to military life. Real knowledge bleeds through there too. I know because my son talks that way sometimes. Overall though I love it.
Roger Wayne is the perfect narrator for James. Only Sig, his Valkyrie love interest. I like her so much, but her voice just didn’t get what it deserved. Even Molly got a good voice, and the weird Russian chick. Everybody got a perfectly done voice. Overall though, Wayne reads novel as if he wrote it and he’s think aloud or something, he so nails it all.

Elliott James is genius and Roger Wayne his perfect narrator.

I have really enjoyed the main character's humor and attitude throughout the series and this book does not disappoint.

another fun listen in the series

As always John is the anti charming hero. He and Sig save the day and keep the monsters at bay. I like this series. It has the right balance of humor, action and mystery. I look forward to the next book.

5 stars

This book feels long and rewarding. It spends a lot of time debating g who is good or evil, it likes to take the morality of the characters then flips it over. The HEA doesn't exactly end where you want, but it's still there. I was convinced this would be the last book several times. It ends in such a way that maybe there will be another book or two. That makes me happy.

I love these books!

This story has a lot of great directives for the main character John including one major plot point that drives the story and close to 4 or so other sub plots this is not the last book once you get to the end their is enough hints dropped that the story is not over yet
If you enjoyed the other books then you will likely enjoy this one
Spoiler
Sig and John stay together
No one from main cast dies though you might wish they did (New characters who are kind of main)
John and Sig are no more dower then usual
There is a dragon in this book
That's all I'll say on spoilers. Cause. I want you to listen to book

Great listen
