Publisher's summary

The 14th thriller in the Spider Shepherd series promises even more gripping action from The Sunday Times best seller Stephen Leather.

Working undercover is all about trust - getting the target to trust you and then betraying them in order to bring them to justice.

But what do you do when you believe an undercover cop has crossed the line and aligned herself with the international drugs smuggler she was supposed to be targeting?

When a deep-undercover cop stops passing on intelligence about her target, MI5 sends in Dan 'Spider' Shepherd to check that she is on the straight and narrow.

Now two lives are on the line - and Shepherd discovers that the real danger is closer to home than he realised.

As Spider finds his loyalties being tested to the limit, an SAS killer is on a revenge mission in London, and only Spider can stop him.

Very interesting. Exceptional series. I would give five stars for the series.

P.S. I only give a novel a score of five stars for what I would class a classic or something like a modern classic, as much as I like Stephen Leather.
And to give five stars for the narrator, it has to be an exceptional performance, as much as I like Paul Thornly.

Another good Spider Shepherd book

The only criticism I'd have is that the narrator didn't pause between chapters and it took a few seconds to realise that he'd switched between characters and moved onto a new chapter. Perhaps a few seconds pause or an announcement of the chapter number would be good. Otherwise a really good Spider book.

Another good read in this series

It started slow for me, but as with all the others in this series, got me in its grip. I started with books 1 and 2 and had mixed feelings. Listened to some other books. Then went back to book 3 and found myself hooked. These books put u through a range of feelings about the world today and challenge some of your beliefs, only to find those beliefs reinforced a book or 2 later. Characters u love to like and love to hate. And the narrator is incredible. So many accents to deal with, and he does the women well too. So, the narrator really puts u there, and it's a very action packed and interesting place.
