About this listen
Imogen Brown is a normal 16-year-old girl. She's obsessed with beach volleyball, she occasionally enjoys the company of her younger sister, Jemima, she's saving for her first car...and she feels like she doesn't belong.
She thinks that her parents, Kat and Dylan, are hypocrites, playing the perfect family when she knows they really argue all the time. What Imogen doesn't know is that they're in financial difficulty after Dylan lost a number of his construction clients. Kat is trying to work things out with him, as all she's ever wanted is a tight-knit family - the family she never had.
One Friday evening, Kat and Dylan have their biggest fight yet - Dylan is snappy and out of character, saying things he doesn't mean. When Kat goes to wake Imogen the next day, she's not in her bed. Kat and Dylan call her friends, but no one has seen her since the previous day at school. Jemima had stayed at a friend's house and hadn't seen or heard from her sister since the previous morning. Imogen has gone missing.

Story
Of course, I’m not going to murder her in the night. I need my laptop back first. That’s the whole point of making friends with Emily Harper, author of the hugely successful novel Diary of an Octopus. So I could get into her apartment and take back what’s mine. Emily doesn’t know who I really am. She thinks I’m her biggest fan, her new best friend who happens to need a place to stay for a few days. She doesn’t realize the laptop she found—and took—from a busy airport almost two years ago was mine. I don’t care about the laptop, just what's on it: my diary.

The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

You’d never know what secrets the house on Hogarth Street holds - what’s happening, right this second, behind closed doors. An emerald-green front lawn. Perfectly trimmed hedging. Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

I was just a little girl, fast asleep in my stroller, the day my mother was killed. I don’t remember anything about the sunny day that turned so dark. She’d be so happy for me now, 20 years later, with my dream job as a photographer, and I’m sure she’d love my new boyfriend, Gabriel. But all my happiness vanishes in a heartbeat when the man from our past walks toward me, his eyes on me for just a fraction too long.

The missing don't always want to be found. Kate Harlow recognizes this painful truth, even as she keeps searching for her daughter, Sophie, who disappeared two years ago. The police have stopped investigating - after all, Sophie has sent postcards home, insisting that she's fine. Then one evening, as she volunteers at a charity helpline for missing teens, a call comes in from a voice Kate instinctively recognizes, even through bursts of static and beyond the sudden dial tone that breaks their connection. Those closest to Kate worry she's cracking under her grief....

Eh....
I wanted to love this book, but it was so long and drawn out. I kept hitting the fast forward to get through it. I loved the narration though.

Highly recommend it! Couldn't love it more.
Absolutely LOVED this book. I was hooked from the very start. I normally don't read crime and it's completely made me fall in love with the genre again.
