About this listen

Joanne knows how lucky she is—Richard is a wonderful husband, Evie is the most gorgeous baby girl, they live in a beautiful house—life couldn't be better. But then Richard's twenty-year-old daughter Chloe turns up. Chloe hasn’t spoken to her father since the day he married Joanne two years ago. But with the arrival of her baby sister Evie, Chloe wants to make peace. Richard is delighted, and since Joanne is struggling with the new baby, he suggests Chloe could move in and help.

It sounds like the perfect solution, even if Chloe doesn’t seem to like Joanne very much. But Joanne understands it’s not easy for her, and she's prepared to give her time. But then things happen that make Joanne feel like she’s losing her mind. She misplaces things, misses important appointments, gets dates wrong… Could Joanne be going mad, just like her own mother? Or is something more sinister happening? Is Chloe really here to help? Or has Joanne made a terrible mistake by letting her move in? And is it too late to ask her to leave?

I didn't /love/ the ending to this book, and thought the twists were slightly gratuitous, but the story was good and the main character was generally likable. Some of the dialogue heavy scenes made me want to scream as they were so infuriating, but in a way that definitely contributed to the story and environment intentionally. Just beware of heavy anxiety.

Great Read, Unbelievably infuriating.

I would definitely recommend this book. Loved every chapter. Twist after twist, and I loved every one of them. Captivating from beginning to end. I found myself anticipating when I could get home and listen again. Don’t hesitate, get this book. I find it fascinating that this author could think of all these twist in her head. Very talented.

The narrator did an awesome job cause I couldn’t stand one of the characters she portrayed as she was beyond annoying.
Unfortunately certain things don’t add up for me. I don’t want to spoil the story by putting details of what bothered me but overall it was good. Not great just good
Narrator really sold it well though. Props to them

Ugh I wanted to punch everyone in the book except the baby and granny at the end. I really liked it!

So frustrating

I couldn’t put this down, so it was enjoyable. When I got to the end though I didn’t feel satisfied. There were too many holes in the story. The narrater did a great job with the female characters, but I found her male voices very off putting

A good read, a few issues

I enjoyed listening to this Audible. The narrator did a great job differentiating between character’s voices. My attention was held till the end!

"Don't Let Her Stay" is a novel that falls in the middle for me, deserving a three-star rating. While it has some intriguing elements, it has its fair share of shortcomings.

The story introduces interesting dynamics within its narrative, exploring themes of mystery, family, and psychological suspense. The initial premise had potential, with the disappearance of a character and the subsequent unraveling of secrets.

However, the execution left much to be desired. The pacing of the story felt uneven, with certain parts dragging and others rushing through critical developments. This inconsistency in pacing affected the overall flow and engagement.

Additionally, some character motivations and actions seemed unrealistic or underdeveloped, making it challenging to fully invest in their journeys. There were also moments when the plot veered into predictability, diminishing the impact of its twists.

Despite these criticisms, "Don't Let Her Stay" might still appeal to readers who enjoy psychological suspense with a focus on family dynamics. While it didn't quite live up to its potential for me, it could offer a satisfactory reading experience for those looking for a lighter thriller.
