About this listen

Alright. I’m done dicking around. If I learned one thing in that warehouse in Ohio, it’s that time is short. Even shorter now, considering all the time I’d lost.

With an occluded front promising a swarm of something on the horizon and armed with Rosetta’s leftovers, Noah and I were just about ready for anything. Well, almost. I hadn’t been expecting the swarm to be in Tiff’s hometown or for the buttlickers to crash an eight-year-old’s birthday party. But, considering how the previous few weeks had gone, I shouldn’t have been surprised.

Still, going a couple of rounds with some bro-wolves, smacking around a demonic pawnshop owner, watching a Cynocephali struggle with a car seat, and getting a lead on Sister Smile can do wonders for the spirit. She’d already slipped by me too many times. And the visions I’d been having told me Joel was still with her. This ends now, Sister Smile. I’m on the hunt and I’m after you.

Aggravated but can't stop listening

I started the series, liked the main characters, the storyline was interesting, as was the way the lore is used in the particular world. At the beginning of the series, the MFC, Bane is clearly less knowledgeable and experienced than other Hunters. She would run off half-cocked with no plan, no prep, inadequate weapons, and things would go to heck and because of her actions, other people get hurt and DIE. Afterwards she feels Really Sad and thinks maybe she shouldn't have rushed in. Ya think?

I expected to see some character growth through the series. See her learn from the mistakes SHE makes that hurt and kill her friends. But she doesn't. In the previous book she even kills an innocent because she's never bothered to learn the words for exorcising a demon so she kills the guy the demon is in.

Here we are in book 8. EIGHT. Once again, she runs off, unprepared, expecting to take on an army with no real plan, no real weapons. And This time even more of her friends die. As she watches it all go to crap she thinks yet again, "gee, maybe I shouldn't have rushed in." And this time three people die. All because she refused to listen to reason, refused to stop to get incredibly important info, refused to make any plan beyond "I'm so mad, I'm KNOW I'm gonna get her THIS time!"

Just listening to the carnage that she caused made me so dang mad that i had to put the speed on 1.5 to get it over with faster. She is so SO stupid and aggravating.

The rest of the book was okay, i thought that FINALLY after not caring about Joel or trying to find him, he'd be rescued. But no. Little Miss Half-ass did it again. That whole ending ticked me off and I almost stopped reading but the other characters and the overall storyline made me continue albeit reluctantly.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
