Good

Jacqueline s a PI and works behind the scenes. When a job, on a movie set she meets the star. Attraction is there, as are the questions of why she doesn’t like the lime light also. Good mystery and romance. The narration by Tessa was good and added to the story. Given audio for my voluntary review and

Good, not great!

Jacqueline Liveon is a detective working for the Rosewood Township PD and she was involved in an incident at the Philadelphia International Airport. An unidentified man pulled a gun on Ryan Palmer, a Hollywood heartthrob. Jackie showed no fear and turned what could have been a tragedy, into a resolved situation. And, later on, when she comes upon his car in the ditch after an accident, she stays beside him while the EMTs are enroute. Ryan is beyond grateful and really wants to talk to her, but she doesn't want anything to do with the notoriety of saving a celebrity. He doesn't give up, however, and his manager makes a deal with the township for her to be on Ryan's payroll as she investigates who might be behind the threats that he's been receiving. She will be introduced as his girlfriend, all the while serving as his "bodyguard." This is a case where both are smitten from the beginning and Ryan is all in, but Jackie has a secret so painful that she can't even think of loving another man. I liked the mystery aspect and her painful secret and, until the very end, I loved Ryan. Yes, he was really damaged by what happened to his friend, but to take it out on Jackie and tell her it was her fault was unforgivable. I really didn't like how he was so cold and callous as he explained how he had moved on, and the 180 that he did was not believable. I would have liked to have felt a deep-swoon happy ending instead of a ho-hum HEA.
The narration is beautifully done by Tessa Compton. Her well-modulated voice and good pace brought each of the characters to life.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Entertaining

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. Detective Jacquelyn Liveon is off duty waiting for someone at the airport, though off duty does not mean she stops being a cop and after an entourage of people walk by, she notices a man acting suspicious. Her gut is telling her he was up to something and her hunch was right and she intercepted and unarmed the suspect before he could fire his weapon. Actor Ryan Palmer was heading to his plane, he made eye contact with the beauty but she did not seem to recognize or acknowledge him, but what gets him is what she does next, and when he tried to find out who she was, he hit a roadblock and was sent on his way. But he does not give up and makes it his mission to find her. Jacquelyn wants nothing to do with publicity or being the talk of the town, but when her pic goes viral, it brings her the attention she does not want, and not only from Ryan Palmer, but his fans too. Ryan moves to PA hoping to find her but it turned out she finds and rescues him once again. He comes up with a plan to get her to talk to him, and the next thing she knows is her chief puts her on leave so she could work an undercover assignment to find out who is making threats to Ryan. It is determined that it is someone on the inside and, to make it more believable, she will become the head of his security and his girlfriend. She was not happy about the assignment, but there was no getting out of it. The chemistry between these two is sizzling hot, so it is not a hardship to fake a relationship, but who said anything about Ryan faking it, now can he get Jacquelyn on board? Jacquelyn has too many skeletons in her closet and she does not allow anyone to get close to her, for their own sake. This cleverly plotted story has plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some twists and turns, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and some steamy romance. Loved the cameo of the author and that the movie Ryan was starring in was based on her book. Stacy Eaton, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Tessa Compton did a great job bringing these characters to life and story to life. She set the perfect tone for the story and captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into her performance. Compton is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen.
