About this listen

"...darkly fabulous storytelling."

The clan activates an Indian mound deep in southern forests and enters our world - hungry for defenseless prey.

Torrential rains and washed out bridges force a runaway teen, an old dowser, and a Cherokee healer to face the horrors of the clan's merciless onslaught.

The long claws' skill, speed, strength, and intelligence make them powerful predators unlike anything in human history.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The book - yes. Seems like a good story and decent enough writing. This Audio book - NO! The performance drove me to distraction.

Would you recommend Long Claws to your friends? Why or why not?

Not in this particular form. All due to the performance.

How could the performance have been better?

Honestly, I had to wonder if this performance was not being done by a machine. Like someone read all the individual words in the dictionary into a computer and then had the computer read the book based on that. Inflections were all wrong. Cadence was horrible. Pauses in the middle of sentences. So bad that I was only able to get about 1/3 of the way through the book before stopping. I could not stand it any further.

Do you think Long Claws needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

at this point - no

Any additional comments?

The performance ruined the book for me and drove me from listening. Honestly, listening to this book reminded me most of the old William Shatner record; singing in the same sort of choppy cadence. If you have ever heard that - imagine it as a 10+ hour audio book.

Story: Fine - Performance: Horrible

I've owned this book for years and haven't been able to listen to the entire book due to the narration. The cadence, inflections and voice of the gentleman is so annoying I can't listen for more than a few minutes. it's so bad that I can't even figure out what is going on in story.
