About this listen

USA Today best-selling YA and paranormal author W.J. May takes you along a journey of finding oneself, finding one's strengths and weaknesses, and of knowing who to trust and how far one is willing to go.

Your curse is your biggest strength. I just didn't know it yet.

Jamie Hunt's the high school quarterback in his senior year. He's popular, smart, and got the prettiest girl in the school chasing him. Everything couldn't be more perfect.

But a single mistake changes everything. His new "ability" puts him in the middle of a war he doesn't want to be a part of, protecting a girl he barely knows and running from the one thing he loves - his family.

Never give up. Never give in.

Lost Souls is the first book in Mending Magic series.

Book 2 Please!

Jaime has it all then finds himself with something he's never had before.. something to hide. His Dad has some explaining to do! plus I want to know more about the orange car!

it's a better listening experience to speed the narrator up a bit but his voice is very easy to listen to!

alright

I'm on the fence with this first in series, I'll wait to see how this series plays out, as usually books with a similar concept usually hold my interest.

another fabulous series that sucks you in!

The author does an amazing job of character and story development. Draws you in and you find yourself having to finish the series to find out what happens next to Jamie and how they're going to escape. The narration is well done with proper inflection and tone. highly recommend!

Nation under siege!

A nation is under attack from the inside. There is an ongoing purge of people with special abilities, a genetic anomaly, an evolutionary glitch that, if left unchecked, will fester and spread.  They are rounded up by frightening, uniformed people in white vans and "relocated." It all started for Jaimie Hunt as a five-year-old boy. While his father, Alexander, talked on the phone, he was playing ball in the park by himself, when it got lodged at the top of the statue. With no one to help him get it back, he stared at it and, the next thing he knew, he was sitting at the top of the fountain with the ball in his fist. His father was terrified and ran screaming, telling him to say he climbed up there! His father is actually the commandant, and co-founder, of Obtero, the organization tasked with finding all the "special ones," rounding them up to cleanse their world anew. How can that be if Jaimie is one of them? Does he know that his son is special? Gabrielle Turner is his next door neighbor and a popular high school girl until an incident at a party made her a persona non grata to her peers. She and Jaimie bond over an English project and find more than a few similarities in their lives that draw them closer. When the unsmiling men in bulletproof vests advanced on Jaimie's house, his father steps forward and tells them "not my son!" He's safe for now, but that's just it...for now. He runs, but how far can he get without his father finding him, or even noticing that he took his multimillion dollar car? He doesn't pay much attention to his son, at all. When he finds himself in trouble, it's his "uncle" Jake who comes to his rescue. Even though he's not his real uncle, Jake has been there every step of the way throughout his life. They have a special bond. In a terrible twist, Jaimie's friend, Matt, betrays Gabby to Alexander in order to "protect" his friend from her. With that, Jaimie and Gabby leave town, looking for a place to be safe. An intense book, if I've ever read one, and I'm anxious for the next chapter of their story. Christopher Swift's narration is next to perfect. All of the dynamic voices are laced with emotion that lets each character's personality shine through.

Lost Souls

Jamie didn’t realize he was different. When his abilities begin to manifest, that when things turn dangerous... but who can he trust?

W. J. May has certainly set the stage for what promises to be a gripping series. Great characters and a great storyline.

Christopher Swift is a new narrator for me. I thought he did a fine job and He kept me entertained.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
