About this listen

When New York City faces the threat of an ancient evil, a teenage boy must use a magical bracelet to transform into a monster-slaying dragon superhero.

Koji Owens is the new kid...again. As the only son of an Air Force F-16 pilot, he's learned to adapt and survive every time they move. It's not easy starting over with new friends and schools every two years, but when the Owens family makes their final move to New York, Koji finally has hope for a normal high school life - that is, until he finds a strange bracelet in his locker.

Transformed into a storm-summoning dragon warrior, Koji finds himself caught up in a world of ancient powers, secret identities, and colossal monsters threatening to destroy his new home. But these awesome powers come with strings attached, and revealing his true identity could mean losing everything he loves. With his family and friends now in mortal danger and New York City in flames, Koji must find the courage to become the hero they need and face down an enemy hiding in plain sight.

A comic-obsessed teenage misfit embraces his inner hero in this action-packed adventure that will leave you ready to get your scales on!

Nicole Conway wrote another wonderful adventure! The narrator did an amazing job, and made the characters come to life.

Nichole Conway started a new series that should be followed. May be a YA novel but perfect for a lazy day of listening. Koji may get a gift which give him powers, but the true gift is the friends he make and support him as the enemy start their plan of revenge. Josh Hurley did a great job with this book, he makes sure you will not be able to stop until the last word is performed.

Nice Easy Listen

You won't regret listening to this great work.

This book is even better as an Audible book than when I read it a few years ago. The humor in the book comes through better with this performance, as does the humanity of the characters.

Laughed out loud and chuckled

This is probably'll in one of the top 5 greatest books I've ever listened/read in my life In mixes a good adventure action and typical teenage life if we get more of this in every day books allowed more people would love to read

Where can I get more of that

The storyline and writing are well done and I appreciate good voice work. Young readers will enjoy it I think.

Good read

This story has its up and downs...and downs...and downs. Couldn't finish the last 3 hours cause I wanted to bash my own head in. No idea why so reviews are rating this so highly.

When he is supporting and hanging out with his friends and getting along with them and having a semi normal highschool life Koji and his story is great. His friendship and near brother like life with Drake, having a girl that actually likes him and may have a step mom in future is great.

But when he thinks...something is slightly wrong or the girl I am DEEP in love(who may not love her partner but was shown as mostly a legit nice guy) with doesn't love me back: I HAVE TO TRANSFORM. Drake would have been a better option to get the powers over Koji.

Biggest issue is Koji lacks many things other writers give their MCs: Common Sense, Critical thinking, some level of Self-Preservation, and maturity in some aspect that matters to the story. Koji has none of this, and is so much more frustrating to listen to when the writer spends more time detailing his thoughts on his crush then letting Koji think even a little bit rationally and yet he gets away with so much he shouldn't be able to so quickly.

I would not suggest this book, and it sucks cause the writer has many other dragon based books so I am scared to give any other series they write a chance if this is what I can expect.

Had High Hopes...
