About this listen

Lost on Purpose is the nonfiction adventure narrative of a former technology executive who took leave of the real world to reinvent himself as a 21st-century mountain man. In October-November 2013, Patrick Taylor crossed the Rocky Mountains alone on foot. He passed through one of the largest wilderness areas in the lower 48 to reach and retrace the route of Lewis and Clark in the winter. The sacrifices - vocationally, financially, emotionally - are measured against the benefits by the author in a refreshingly honest, humorous, and inspirational fashion.

Woo Hoo for AW!

This is quite the enjoyable tale. I enjoy hiking but have never trekked. It was interesting to learn about his list, the people he met and his thoughts on his life. Woo hoo for AW!

It was ok

I have no doubt this was an incredible journey for the author. unfortunately the story told was a bit on the dull side. I kept waiting for it to get interesting... and waited... and waited...

The visuals and encounters

I enjoyed listening about his trek and his approach to the hike. The encounters with people on the outing was enjoyable.

Great Book for us who wander.

Really enjoyed this book. Listened to it 2x while on a much smaller adventure. I appreciate the honesty, pain, and awareness that the author shares. several funny situations encountered, and a joy to see the author's transformation through the journey. Also, some great insight on equipment that works and those that didn't work as well as anticipated. Variety of curse words here and there, but many understandable due to circumstances. Overall, I enjoyed meeting Pat Taylor through this real-life account.

Adventure at its purest

While at first I was a bit put off by the grandeur of the story and the authors telling of it, I was quickly hooked. Indeed could not put it down. Inspiration to be sure. Time to be a better job journaling…

Very good story. An amazing journey!

Sometimes I just want to read a book that isn't filled with horrors. This journey was an incredible one and what the man in it accomplished was Unimaginable in today's world.. I don't know if it was a true one or not but it sure was a good one. I very much enjoyed listening to the narrator. He brought life into everything that he was telling. I have no complaints on this book and would recommend it to any outdoor enthusiast.

Hell of a track and story

Have spent some time years ago in the mountains. Brings back great memories and also makes me wonder if I have any adventures left in me.
