Publisher's summary

A summer in Italy turns into a road trip across Tuscany in this sweeping debut novel filled with romance, mystery, and adventure.

Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn't in the mood for Italy's famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She's only there because it was her mother's dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn't around for 16 years? All Lina wants to do is get back home.

But then Lina is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina's uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires Lina, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother's footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept from Lina for far too long. It's a secret that will change everything she knew about her mother, her father - and even herself.

People come to Italy for love and gelato, someone tells her, but sometimes they discover much more.

I love this book but…

This is the only book that is I’m my library that does this is will randomly pause and sometimes won’t unpause when I click the unpause button it will change the icon to playing then change back to the paused icon and the book will not continue even for a second the only way I can fix this is to archive the book and re-download it witch I have had to do multiple times.

Nothing Like The Movie

So, I suppose Netflix tried to produce a movie that displayed the enchantment of Italy with a coming of age story about a young woman discovering her beginnings with an estranged father that is cryptically referred to as “X” only to find him a complete asshole. This book is also similar in the basic story but the procrastinator is quite a bit younger and true love is elusive as it’s being told by the girl’s deceased mother through a journal left to her when she arrives in Italy. The book basis the story in Florence unlike the Rome setting in the movie. Both stories are enchanting. If you are a young teenager you will enjoy the introspective mind-speak sans the social media which the movie uses a lot of to move the story along. I enjoyed both but don’t read the book expecting it to be a mirror of the movie.

Love & Gelato

This was a nice summer listen and different from the usual books I like. (I’m into mystery and fantasy books) I have lots of friends who enjoy romance books so I thought I’d give this one a try. (Also the cover is super cute) This was fun to listen to. I haven’t found a good Italian romance story until this one. The beginning is sad but it does get better. I know the mom passed away but I thought she passed away before the book started.
