Publisher's summary

In 1946, Eva leaves behind the rubble of Berlin for the streets of New York City, stepping from the fiery aftermath of one war into another, far colder one, where power is more important than principles and lies are more plentiful than the truth. Eva holds the key to a deadly secret: Project Bluebird - a horrific experiment of the concentration camps, capable of tipping the balance of world power. Both the Americans and the Soviets want Bluebird, and it is something that neither should ever be allowed to possess.

But Eva hasn't come to America for secrets or power. She hasn't even come for a new life. She has come to America for one thing: justice. And the Nazi that has escaped its net.

Critically acclaimed author of The Light in Hidden Places Sharon Cameron weaves a taut and affecting thriller ripe with intrigue and romance in this alternately chilling and poignant portrait of the personal betrayals, terrifying injustices, and deadly secrets that seethe beneath the surface in the aftermath of World War II.

Great story

It is stories like this that give me faith in humankind. We don’t have to be defined by our upbringing.

Captivating and an eye opener.

I learned something new and horrifying about WWII. I can totally see why this is not a part of American history...but we need to know. Thank you. Will look for more books by her.

1 of my favorite listens this year

This story was very informative and well told. I learned a lot. It kept me guessing too! I loved the author’s notes at the end so I knew which parts were factual. Loved the narration too.

Incredible Story

I have yet to encounter a book of Sharon Cameron’s that I do not like, and this one did not disappoint. The story is spellbinding, and also leaves the listener on a hopeful note. I would definitely recommend this book.

Incredibly special

After the first 3 or 4 chapters I wasn’t sure about this one so decided to start over and give it my full attention and I’m so glad I did. Best book I’ve listened to in ages. The narrator is sublime which adds so much to an already fantastic story. Give this one a chance…you won’t be disappointed! Loved!!

What a great story and amazing character development

This story has so many details and so much family involvement - and the New York characters at Powell House - so much emotions and details - great story and enjoyed the author’s giving true details. So interesting

Man’s Relentless In-humanity to Man, especially the children.

Definitely recommend to anyone interested in the tragedy of WWII, well written with enlightening, historical facts at the end. I can’t stop thinking that perhaps these horrors still continue today. Also, learned of how kindness & love stepped in to help repair the damage left from the monsters among us. Exactly what this world needs today…more kindness.
