About this listen

With Love, Cowboy, by Lacy Williams, is a sweet inspirational romance.

When the love of his life is injured in combat, Ryan Michaels promises himself he won't let any more time go by without ensuring she knows that he loves her. His problem? Ashley still sees him as the goofy high school kid that followed her everywhere.

Ashley Reynolds returns home to Redbud Trails, Oklahoma, a wounded veteran, with her Military Working Dog at her side. She's concerned about her aging parents and doesn't have time for a relationship - especially not one with a college dropout like Ryan.

But as Ashley dives back into the life she left behind, she discovers there's much more to Ryan than she thought... there's a man of honor and integrity. Will she open her heart and let Ryan in?

Cute story

Cute story! I enjoyed the audiobook version! He’s always loved her, but she’s never really known him. 10 years later can the start again!

Clean, short romantic story

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this short story about Ashley, a wounded veteran and her Military Working dog that also got wounded and Ryan, the boy at home who always loved her. Ashley had misconceptions about Ryan and didn't think he'd grown up since she'd left home. She came back after losing her arm in a IED incident. She's trying to fit back into civilian life and Ryan is trying to show her how much he's loved her. He wrote letters to her the entire time she was gone but she didn't ever open them. I liked the way he was a steady influence and always took care of her parents. I like how Lacy Williams is able to bring so much to a short story and I never feel like it's been rushed. This is well worth a credit.

Traditional Romance With A Personal Hook

Ashley Reynolds returns from war minus her left arm; plus her service dog Atlas. She returns home to Oklahoma to find her father completely lost to Alzheimer's and her mother recovering from a heart attack. Luckily the one boy fan club from her childhood has been looking after them for her; as well as the family's Feed store business and farm. However she can't begin to take him seriously; as the story progresses and she learns more about him she realizes she's misjudged him terribly. Will the realization open her heart? If you've ever read or even heard about romance novels you know how it works out.
Normally this wouldn't be the type of book I'd want even if it were free; thus comes the personal hook. I know what it's like to want something more with a woman who still sees you as a kid who ran with her brother or as a testosterone fueled adolescent lusting after her silently. My feelings weren't nearly as deep as Ryan's but in the end it worked out quite well for both of us. The book was a deeply sentimental work of fiction that speaks to the romantic in us; unlike my personal story.
If you're that type of person you'll enjoy this selection.
