About this listen

Hannah

Maddox Lovelace. The captivating football player I met in college.

The one I only knew for a week. A week that was...life-changing. Until my phone rang, and I had no choice but to go home.

I left Maddox a letter, putting my feelings on paper, giving him my number, hoping he'd call. But he didn't call.

He never called. He got drafted into the professional league and lived like a king while I stayed home and struggled to stay afloat. I may have followed his career, but now that he's retired from football, I've forced myself to stop thinking about him. And it's okay that I won't ever see him again. That week in college was fifteen years ago. I'm not in love with Maddox anymore. I might even hate him.

Maddox

Hannah Utley. The name that's haunted me since my senior year of college. The girl who caught my attention with her wide eyes and freckled nose. Who spent one week twisting up my insides until she stole a piece of my heart the night we got locked inside the campus library.

The girl who disappeared without a word.

It's the name of the girl I've been trying to forget for fifteen years. And it's the name looking up at me from the resume in my hand.

Because Hannah Utley works for the company I just purchased.

And that makes her mine. Whether she likes it or not.

I adored this book!

✨ Love, Utley ✨

THIS. BOOK. I am obsessed with Maddox and Hannah together and reading their story was so much fun. I inhaled it in less than two days because I couldn't get enough of their banter, chemistry, and swoony moments. Maddox is this big, strong Alpha who has a complete sweet spot for Hannah and anything Hannah loves. I love that he was completely mush for her. And Hannah is this strong, amazing human who is just trying to take care of herself and her family. She finds her voice through this book and you can see her confidence grow as her love grows. I love them so much!!!! I'm so sad it is over.

Hannah and Maddox meet in college and have one amazing night locked in the library and plan to see each other again the next day. But when Hannah's mom has a stroke, she is forced to drop out of school and get home immediately to help her with her health and business. Since Hannah and Maddox never exchanged phone numbers, she has to leave him a note. But he never calls. 15 years later, Hannah walks into an interview with her new boss and it's Maddox....

This audiobook was AMAZING! I think this is one of my favorites performances by Jacob Morgan and I love him. He was the most perfect Maddox. Andi Arndt voiced Hannah and I also loved her. If you like audio, I highly recommend this one.

Big Bad Wolf & Bunny <3

I will devour anything Tilly writes and had been anxiously waiting to read this on my every growing TBR. I decided to enjoy the audiobook -because Jacob Morgan, DUH - and I loved every second. The banter and miscommunication were well done, combined with the delicious tension between Hannah and Maddox who so obviously still loved and longed for each other for over a decade. I am not a second chance romance girlie but this book may have just swayed my opinion because they pay off was SO GOOD. I also had many moments of laughing and kicking my feet at their interactions, cheesy and lovey at times but I will enjoy every single moment of it!

So cute

Very contemporary. But the more beer I drank the funnier it was. Don’t judge it was my birthday 🎉

Fun book

I liked the story, readers, but there were chapter changes after 1 sentence. It wasn’t necessary but it made me know the readers were not in the same state. Loved the characters and plot. Worth the purchase.

The book starts at HOP College with Hannah Utley reliving what can be described as the greatest night of her life with Maddox Lovelace, shortly after that all comes crashing down as she learns her mom had a stroke and she leaves school to go home to take care of her and her business. She leaves a letter for Maddox explaining her sudden disappearance and hoping he'd call, but he doesn't and Hannah decides to continue her life.

Over a decade later, Hannah is an accountant at a company now owned by Minnesolar. While theyre conducting interviews for the current staff, Hannah learns that her new boss is non other than Maddox Lovelace, the man who disappeared from her life years ago. Maddox, not fully paying attention during the interviews, IMMEDIATELY recognizes Hannah as the "one that got away" .

Maddox immediately tries to get Hannah to speak to him, as his brain runs wild with questions and ideas of what her life is now.

After Brandon, the office creep invites them to lunch, along with other employees, Maddox sees this as his time to "learn more" about Hannah and use the group setting as an excuse. On the way back to the office, Brandon and Hannah get into a minor car accident on the way back to the office and Maddox, who was following behind them springs into action. Hannah is hesitant but accepts his help and allows him to take from the scene.

Shortly after, they begin spending more and more moments together, coffee in the morning, “employee lunch events” and they reconnect although both still confused about the past and why the other never called.

After a little spicy time in the office during a party, Brandon sees them leaving Hannah’s office and becomes suspicious but the two of them don’t seem to care. After starting to spend a lot of time together, they start to have conversations about what happened and Hannah brings up the letter and how Maddox never called her, after telling her he knew she got on the bus and Hannah telling him she never told anyone that, Maddox discovers that a girl who was obsessed with him in college, had actually taken the letter. This allows them to pick up where they left off essentially and rekindle.

They begin to bond with Hannah’s mother and niece who they have custody of since her cousin passed years ago. Chelsea, Hannah’s niece and Maddox’s harshest critic seems to adjust to him easily and the two get along like peas in a pod as well as her mom.

They decide to give being a couple a go and start spending more time together. However, while out at dinner one night with all his friends, Brandon spots the two of them. being the vengeful and spiteful person he is, he sends pictures of the two of them together to HR at Minnesolar causing them to let Hannah go.

Maddox, obviously furious, demands to know who sent the pictures but deep down he knows. After confronting Brandon, the two get into an altercation and Brandon is fired. Maddox and Hannah finally are able to put their relationship public and take the next steps towards their future.

Let me tell you, there isn't a single S.J. Tilly book that I havent enjoyed and this one is definitely top 3. Not only are the main characters so well written but the side characters who get their own chapters in the books are so well put together, its a nice change of pace from the story to get an outside perspective of whats going on with our main characters.

Swoon

SJ Tilly has done it again. I love all of her books. Seriously, I listen on repeat and this new series didn’t disappoint. I love seeing more of the other book characters coming forth and I can not wait to see where this goes.
