Has potential

This book definitely kept me engaged but I had found it very confusing. I couldn't keep up with the characters or kids. I felt like I needed to take notes and as I listened. But I would give this another try. I do like her writing style. The narration was perfect.

Good Read!

Good read! I loved when the guy read as Malik and the lady read as Marie, Malik’s mom. It was like they were having a conversation and not reading. Chapter 18 reminded me of my Dad and me. Very raw. NO spoilers...

Story had potential w/good narrator

I saw the potential in this story but it felt like maybe too many things were on tap so that they felt rushed and/or not fully explored. Every character had a “bombshell” but maybe less would’ve been more. Narrator did a great job with the range of voices from Malik to Shana to the kids. It did seem like her pacing was off (like she was pausing for commas or periods where there was none) and that began to distract me more as the story wore on.

Loved it

Yes this ending to beloved characters was everything. Loved the man Malik turned out to be and loved the growth from book one to now
