About this listen

Lt. Reilly is back. He took the job that Mitchell offered him in the Military Investigations office on New Harmony, got his commission reinstated, and finally had a chance to figure out his relationship with Kayla. Yet one of his cases turned out to be much, much bigger than he expected it to be. He and Mitchell soon find themselves in the middle of a black-ops cover-up, intergalactic conspiracy, and the beginnings of a new war that threatens to rip the Alliance apart from within.

A truly entertaining second book

First to get it out of the way, "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
That being said ,Matthew O. Duncan again gives us an exceptional story reminiscent of the heyday of Analog magazine.
For those of us looking for a good science fiction space adventure ,this and its prequel Lt. Reilly - 2321 are the books for you.
While this addition may be a little slower paced than the last book, it still is a great listen.
Dave Cruse returns again for this book to add his rich style to the narration.
I do recommend you start with Lt. Reilly - 2321. you will enjoy this one much more if you do.

A very good second book

I listened to the first book in this series again before investing my credit & time and listening to this second book, it was worth it, as you get a better understanding of the series and of the characters development.
I am enjoying the series, Lt Reilly is an interesting character.
The narration is first class, but the book should be longer.
Overall a great story.

Thrill ride

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The opinions are my own.

This book is action packed and very enjoyable. The ending didn’t resolve much of the big picture so I assume the author will be writing more in this series. That is ok as I look forward to reading more.

Great narration. Very clear speaker.

Awesome Sci-Fi listen!!

Although not my favorite genre, this was a very exciting and interesting Sci-Fi book. Lt. Reilly was relatable and charged into battles head on, and battles were a plenty in this story. The story keep me on the edge of my seat and the narrator did a fantastic job of making each characters voice unique and interesting! This book had just the right balance of battles, romance and human interests. I would recommend this book for anyone that loves Sci-Fi, or just a good, exciting story.

And the story continues

This is the same review from book one but I feel you need to have it to continue the adventures from book one.
Have heard this saying before and really understood the term space opera but now I can say this audible is A Space Opera. You have a loner who is a mechanic on a space transport ship, a women on the same ship who and finally a officer of the Space JAG. The two mechanics can not stay out of trouble and after the ship they were on crashed and burned they are accused of murder now the third person of this trio comes into place the Pretty Female JAG officer.
In addition to the above you have pirates, murders, deserters and finally criminal mobs put all these factors together you have the perfect space opera.
The story is based around the crew of the Glacier Laser who is a very badly outfitted space transport now the captain is doing some shady deals and the ship crashed the the two mechanics one who was on leave and one who had quit. They are thrown into a world of hurt they are accused of murder and arrested and then the story starts to get interesting and full of mismatched romance and adventures.
In this storyline takes place about a year later from book one and see the things seems to be going good until strange things start happening more murders, strange flying ships and finally war.
I truly recommend this auibal and I am sure you enjoy it and make sure you have listen to the first book and you can enjoy the the adventures and romance.

a bit short but pretty good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Admittedly, I am starting this series with this book, so I don't have the background of what happened in book 1. That said, I still rather enjoyed the book and didn't feel too lost. There was tons of action that made it a fun listen. Narration was done well too.

Action adventure

If you loved the first book then you will love this one. I would recommend you read book one so you get a better feel for the characters and the relationship they have with other people. I, unfortunately read this one before the first, which meant I did not feel a connection with the characters as much as I wanted to.
There is plenty of action and is also fast paced, which I like.

Can a book be too exciting? Nah!!!

Strap in and hold on - this book is non-stop action. I'm talking heart palpitations, clutch the pearls, peek-between-your-fingers non-stop action. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!

It picks up right where book one ends. You don't need book one to grasp the story but don't be a sap, listen to book one first. Lt. Reilly is such a great character!!!! This listen is Star Wars meets Star Fighter with a slice of Top Gun and a Macguyver chaser. Trust me, it works.

There were so many dog fights and the bad guys just kept being, well, bad guys. Reilly and Mitchell were right in the middle of it all. It was glorious.

The narrator is insanely good!!!! Not only does he deliver Reilly as the take-no-prisoners military professional that he is, but Cruse's female delivery and variety of accents are compelling and real. He does justice to this incredibly good story.

I barely caught my breath as the final chapters were delivered, and then boom. Where is book three already?????
