About this listen

The Badlands of South Dakota - haunting landscapes, legendary outlaws, and...vampires?

Lucas Donlon, vampire lord, is one of the most powerful vampires in North America and beyond. Charming and irreverent to his friends and lovers, he enjoys everything about his life as a vampire. But when a neighboring lord makes the mistake of declaring war, he quickly discovers that Lucas is every bit as lethal as he is charming.

Kathryn Hunter doesn't care about powerful vampires or their wars. Her baby brother is missing and she will do anything to find him, even if it means going against both her FBI bosses and the local vampire lord. But Lucas Donlon has other plans for the lovely FBI agent who's landed on his doorstep. Waging war against their enemies and each other, Lucas and Kathryn will risk everything to keep the most deadly vampire war in hundreds of years from engulfing every vampire, and human, in North America.

A great addition to the Vampires in American serie

Well written, well performed. The story is good addition to the series. Only drawback is there is a glitch in chapter 12--this should be checked on.

Narrator Awful

The narrator might as well has been "Siri" speaking. His performance was emotionless, and it ruined the listened

Another solid entry into this series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

If you are a fan of Christine Feehan or Kresley Cole, you should definitely check this series out. Nick J. Russo's narration is great and, like the aforementioned authors, D.B. Reynolds does a great job of making each book build on the last, but still be a standalone book focusing on a character you were introduced to in a previous book. This one focuses on Lucas. I am definitely going to continue with this series.

Dang this series is so good!

Lucas and Katherine were a fantastic couple of sleuth's solving a mystery carried in from Betrayed with Cyn and Raphael. I can't help but like the FBI aspect of her job and stretching her authority a bit to look for her brother. I want more from DB Reynolds. Nick is a good narrator too!

Great Series

This book was very entertaining a bit slow in places but definitely worth it. I loved Lucas character his loyalty, heart, and everything in between . I also love strong female characters and Katherine was a perfect example. I can't wait for the next book it sounds like it's going to be really good.

Kick ass Vamp and his FBI girl ♡

Amazing, Fantastic, Awesome, Astounding and all other synonyms you can find online.

I couldn't help but to laugh every time Lucas was mad and had to curse with an accent. I know what is to yell, but things come out in your language and husband just stares and ignore. I think he was more human than vamp.

I liked the characters stories, background, how it all comes together. It is perfect for the Romance lover. I must say, go for the book! I had purchased the Audiobook and was like a child at Christmas when Bell Bridge Books posted on FB about the special. Since I got first in series, Raphael, my interest keeps growing.

✿ The Audible ✿

Nick J. Russo is in my list of Favorite Narrators. He's one of those narrators who gives each character their voice. Clear, well paced, full of emotions. The man is fantastic interpreting male and female characters. A true voice actor. I say this, as I listened to it at work. Couldn't leave desk, couldn't pause. He enhances the audio experience. It's like listening to a show or movie. Except, no sound effects. All the emotions, the pauses, the fast action!! -He doesn't just "read". Nick J. Russo interprets each scene, each character enhancing the story. The evil, the joy, the anger, the pain, the excitement. Truly impressed on this audible, and Nick J. Russo.

Love this Narrator and Series!

As always, D.B.Reynolds creates very likable characters. Took me awhile to warm up to Kathryn, she seemed to push all of Lucas's buttons when it came to safety. However, once I thought about it, I realized that she's in law enforcement and her brother was missing. Those first few days are crucial, so now I understand why she was so aggressive even to the point in some cases in not hearing what Lucas was trying to tell her. Lucas had his faults as well, he wasn't a fan of law enforcement to begin with, and that colored his reactions to her, keeping some events from her when communication may have cleared some problems up. However, they learned to respect each other and finally listen. I loved that Lucas was half-Irish and had a surprise/secret Sire.

Nick J. Russo again did a fantastic job with this book. His accents are really good (Irish lilt in this case) and he even does female voices really well.
