Trying for too much in a romance

What disappointed you about Lyndley?

I felt like besides it being predictable the author just kept throwing more cliche romance story situations. I think she needed to build more on the characters and world around them before throwing in more snapshots of drama. Such as when the girls confronted her in the diner, she should have done more with that scene or those characters if you are going to have it brought up at all.

Another point that irritated me was when the story took a direction of the movie Sweet Home Alabama. That movie is one of my favorites and I felt like around the time we learned things about Lyndley and Jaxson the story was taking pages from that movie script.

Predictable story

This story, while short and enjoyable was very predictable. Lyndley Adams comes back home after 10 years. She meets up with her old boyfriend, and the sparks between them are still there. Lyndley has a big secret though. I actually was very surprised at how quickly Jaxson learned and forgave Lyndley for her secret. While trust and love is strong, this secret was huge, and I thought regardless of his love for her that he would have been a little angrier. The two do have a very strong connection though and this does keep them together. There are several other obstacles that they overcome to get their HEA.

Aundrea Mitchell has a very expressive voice. While I love her narrations, she didn't fit this Texas style book. I was thinking more of a twangy narration for going back to the ranch. I have enjoyed the story with her narration, but think a different narrator may have been a better fit.

3 Interesting Stars

I enjoyed the narration it was a first for me from both the author and the narrator.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I can see the emotional pain and scars secrets can have.

That’s kind of why I was surprised Jaxson wasn't more hurt by Lyndley’s actions. It was a little predictable after that but not entirely. You can tell these two are going to make it work there connection hasn't faded even from there time apart.

Over all it’s a good fast short story. Trust is the name of the game with this book and learning to re trust someone you care about isn't always easy.

Predictable Romance - Nice Narraton

The following is my review of Lindley. I was offered a copy of this book in exchange for my review, good, bad, or men

It seems that my opinion and review follows almost everyone who has reviewed it on audible. It had a predictable, so-so storyline that I just could not become excited about.

This is the first time I've ever listen to anything by K. Renée and while this particular book was not for me, I will give K. Renée another chance if I come across her in the future.

Lindley was narrated by Andrea Mitchell. This is my first experience hearing her narration, as well. I found her performance above average and look forward to listening to more from her. I did not think it was horrible as some reviewers have said.

.
This book opens with strong language (F bombs) and they continue throughout. It may be offputting for some traditional romance readers. I found it did not add, but took away from the story because it was used so much.

Loved the storyline.

I loved the idea of a broken down girl coming home to her small town after failing to make it in the big city. Along with all the reasons she left the small town, she also has to face her first love.

I connected with the storyline but I didn't feel like there was enough meat to it and the narrator's voice was not what I would have imagined for a small town girl coming home. That being said, the narrator was expressive and I enjoyed listening to her telling the story.

Although I was gifted a copy of this book by Audiobook Boom, it in no way influenced my review.

Did not love this at all.

I was given this audiobook free in exchange for an honest review.
I just could not get into this story. I think a lot of it was the accent of the narrator. If it was an accent for the performance, it just didn't work. I'm not crazy about the story being told in the first person, either.
That said, the story was okay .It is the story of Lyndley and Jaxson. They were sweethearts growing up that ended up separating. Now years later, Lyndley is back and she has a secret. That secret and Lyndley's ex-boyfriend, who is supposed to be in jail can cause a lot of trouble for them. Will love triumph and give Lyndley and Jax their happy ever after?

Horrible narrator.... horrible.

Poorly read, choppy, bad accents, and placed stress on the wrong parts of the sentence, and she had a weird almost-but-not-quite-lisp. I think I could have gotten through this if I'd been reading it, but this narration was nuts. shoot, even listening to a robotic voice would have been better. Sorry, but I had to cut it off!
