This is a sweet second chance romance set in a small town. This is my first book by Theresa Paolo and it will not be my last. I enjoyed her writing style and the storylines and characters she created, which I found to be realistic and relatable. The characters were complex and well developed and I adored the two leads, Matt Hayes and Shay Michaels . Two people from different worlds met when they were younger and fell in love. Matt grew up in Red Maple Falls, a small town in New Hampshire, Shay used to spend her summers there when she fell in love with Matt, but it was not meant to be she returned back home to NYC and they did not keep in touch. Seventeen years later Shay flees her city life returns to the place she fell in love with when she was younger, Red Maple Falls, and opens a bakery, something she dreamed of doing. Matt is now the local sheriff and when her store gets broken into he responds and they meet again. This story is well plotted, there is never a dull moment, there is drama, a bit of angst, mystery, plenty of emotions all leading to a wonderful second chance romance. Theresa Paolo, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride. I am looking forward to checking out more of your work.

I listened to the Audible edition, Krista Nicely does a great job narrating and performing the voices for all the characters. She brings these characters and their story to life from the pages to your ears. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧

Shay and Matt were lovers until an overbearing mother caused her to move over 900 miles away. Her mother then caused more damage to their relationship. Now many years later Shay moves back to escape a bad relationship. Shay now runs a bakery and Matt is the sheriff. They avoid each other until there is a break in at the bakery. This story contains fun bickering, Matt's loving family, a town drunk and his tractor, a wise grandmother, a love that was meant to be, and taking charge of one's life.

The narrator did an excellent job of making this a listening pleasure. I received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this second chance story. The small town is filled with so many delightful characters that support and/or interact with Matt and Shay. I couldn't help but cheer for Matt and Shay.

Shay and Matt had a love connection when they were teens, but didn't end things on the best of terms; Matt especially felt hurt. This book takes place about 17 years later. Shay has moved to Red Maple Falls and opened a bakery; Matt is the police chief in town, so he's on the job when Shay's security alarm goes off at her bakery. The two try to fight their attraction, but the connection is still there after all these years and won't be denied. Matt is worried that Shay is in danger, but she's being stubborn and keeping secrets. Shay is a bit too prickly at times, but it's good that she's finally standing up for herself and realizing that she can't let other people rule her life. I liked that she's tough, but she was being an idiot about her safety. Matt's a sweetheart; he was a little tough on Shay about their past, but I loved how he was there for her. I don't really get why it took so long for them to talk about the past and get back together; Shay has been back for a couple years (if I remembered correctly), so the connection would've felt deeper if they couldn't control themselves sooner; especially in a small town. The connection is still really sweet and they fit well together. Entertaining story with the troubles at the bakery and with Shay's mother; the mother leaves a lot to be desired. I'm looking forward to checking out the next books in the series; Matt has a lot of siblings, so it'll be fun to see each of them find their loves.

I listened to the story on Audible. The narrator did a solid job; she didn't quite fit the story for me, but an enjoyable listen.

I am a complete sucker for a small town romance. This book had all of the makings for it. There was a little angst, town gossips, good family vibes, and of course love. There was a small mystery in there, and when it is figured out you get a small chuckle from it. This was a an easy listen that leaves you with a smile. I cannot wait to read about the rest of the siblings. #audiobookobsession

This author did a great job writing about 2nd Chance love! From the beginning I was rooting for this couple to get back together. It’s a great story of finding that first true love all over again. There is suspense, and heat all throughout the book. It took me a few chapters to like the narrators voice. I thought overall she did a good job. #audioobsession

I really enjoyed this story! It was my first by Ms. Paolo, and I'm glad I dove in. It has a bit of everything - small town, second chance, romance, fun side characters, and a dash of suspense. Definitely something for everyone to love.

Matt and Shay were fun characters. From the very beginning, you could see they loved each other, but it was fun watching them find their way back together. I also really enjoyed the side characters! There were several people I would like to see more of as my interest is already peaked based on what I learned of them here.

The narration was also well done. It was an easy listen from beginning to end.

This is a super quick, sweet read! Really enjoyed the journey in reading this book.

Red Maple Falls is an adorable town with amazing people who all seem to know each other. Shay is back in the town where she spent all her summers and fell in love for the first time. She's opened a bakery and some trouble has caused her to come back in close contact with her former love.

I really enjoyed both Matt and Shay. I felt like they did fit together really well. They had their sweet times and their rough times but they both were able to work through. I loved seeing their journey together. I also liked that there were other characters and other things in their lives besides just each other. I can't wait to read more of this series!

Krista Nicely did a good job with this audiobook. Mostly her performance was really good. But I couldn't really tell much of a difference between the voices of the different characters. I had to go back and listen to a couple of segments to make sure that I knew what was going on. But overall, I enjoyed her performance.
