About this listen

Most of us know “how to” get healthy. Where things often fall apart is with our “want to.”

In Lysa TerKeurst’s book Made to Crave, she helps women find the missing link between our desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen.

But when French fries are so close and God feels so far away, we need more than nineteen chapters to stay motivated and on track. That’s why Lysa wrote this daily devotional with sixty inspirational entries. There is plenty of new material not in the original book, as well as your favorite nuggets of wisdom from Made to Crave.

In this devotional you will find:

  • A daily opening Scripture
  • Thought for the Day
  • Devotion
  • Closing prayer

Just like the Made to Crave book, this Made to Crave Devotional is not a how-to-get-healthy book. It is the road to finding the lasting “want to” that extends far beyond the surface issues of weighing less and wanting to wear a smaller clothes size. There’s a spiritual battle going on. It’s real. And it’s amazing how perfectly the Bible gives us specific ways to find victory over our food struggles.

Even for girls who don’t crave carrots.

The ONLY reason I don't return this book is the content is so great. I have quite a few Audible books and some narrators are better than others. This one is the worst! If it wasn't so bad, it would be comical. I think she tries to give emphasis when she starts a new paragraph. It honestly sounds like someone stepping on a cat! When she stops and I can tell she is going to read a new paragraph, I cringe and brace. It really is THAT bad. I have the physical book this is based on and I love it! I wanted this as something I could listen to everyday. It is good enough material to keep, if you can just bear the voice.

Great content Horrible Narrator

Reading this book has revolutionized my healthy eating journey. It helped me realize that healthy eating is part of a spiritual walk with God. That it is possible to crave God and enjoy food. Lost over 25 pounds during this 60 day journey but more important developed a healthy relationship with food and a closer relationship with God.

Excellent book

Where does Made to Crave Devotional rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Kind of low only because this is a devotional so listening to devotional is different than listening to a story.

What other book might you compare Made to Crave Devotional to and why?

Every Body Matters by Gary Thomas

How could the performance have been better?

Her voice goes all over the place. So far up then down. Keeping it more neutral would have been very helpful because when she'd swing high pitched for no reason it was shrill and obnoxious. She didn't do it all the time though, so it wasn't always like that but it was hard to listen when she did.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

If she kept on eating, she was going to eat her soul... who will stop her?

Good Book, Narration a little Annoying

I really LOVED this book. I love the author and wanted to order the book "Made to Crave" on audible, however when I pulled it up to order, I noticed the narrator was the same as the Devotional. Yikes! Not intended to offend or seem harsh, but the narrator on this particular book really grated my nerves. There is a high-pitched and whiny thing that she does during the narration of this book that made wish that the book were narrated by the author. It is throughout the narration and usually at the end of each passage that she narrates. It is the most annoying thing that I have ever heard. It was really the only thing that kept me from getting the regular book in audible. I really would love to order the book and if it is re-released with a different narrator, I will definitely get it. I absolutely get this author. Here's to hoping for a re-release using another narrator in audible format for both of these Made to Crave books. Cannot say enough about the story. It is wonderful.

Different narrator needed, but the story is great!
