Some enemies don’t get mad. They get even.
Logan Conner and Wholesale Slaughter won the day on Revelation, but the Starkad Supremacy doesn’t like failure. If they can’t beat Sparta on the battlefield, they’ll make them fold from within.
It’s been over 20 years since the failed coup that killed the rightful Guardian and put Logan’s father on the throne of Sparta, but the same resentments and family rivalries still burn bright. It doesn’t take much for a dissatisfied political rival to be converted into an enemy agent.
The traitors strike without warning, and in the space of a day, Logan is on the run, without his father, without his throne, without the Spartan military to back him up. The only friends he can count on are his brother, Terrin, his fiancée, Katy, and the rest of Wholesale Slaughter.
If Starkad and their allies think this war is over, they don’t know Logan Conner.
Narrated by the award-winning Marc Vietor.

I'm sorry, but that's not good writing in my opinion.
Too Contrived

Not even sure I can pin down what it is. His tone of voice? Accent? A feeling the feel & pacing are all the same so it's monotonous & hard to follow when action picks up or characters change as they mostly sound the same?
I like the story enough to want to finish the series, but that's more a preferance to want to finish a story, find out what hsppens next & thatcthe books are only 1.99 ea with the Kindle Unlimited Plan, than tolerating the narrator.
The books would definitely benefit from a more expressive reader like RC Bray. for an exam pl le off the top of my head.
I m sure the narrator's great at other types of stories, but not this type.
Just my opinion for what it's worth.
This book seemed a little on the short side too?.

the not so good: the good guys can't do things because: not great reasons.
the bad guys: magically succeed at plans or are able to easily skirt around actual hard obstacles. one huge obstacle blocks the good guys but is easily accomplished by the baddies, because suspended disbelief. it's clear the author was very inspired by battletech, and did good job making his own story while incorporating a lot of the good of battletech. however, he also incorporated the loose rules adopted by battletech authors to progress a story or make the story narrative work, and it's frustrating.
it's a decent ride
