Publisher's summary

Graham Hancock's multimillion best seller Fingerprints of the Gods remains an astonishing, deeply controversial, wide-ranging investigation of the mysteries of our past and the evidence for Earth's lost civilization. Twenty years on, Hancock returns with the sequel to his seminal work filled with completely new scientific and archaeological evidence which has only recently come to light....

Near the end of the last Ice Age 12,800 years ago, a giant comet that had entered the solar system from deep space thousands of years earlier broke into multiple fragments. Some of these struck the Earth, causing a global cataclysm on a scale unseen since the extinction of the dinosaurs. At least eight of the fragments hit the North American ice cap while further fragments hit the Northern European ice cap. The impacts, from comet fragments a mile wide approaching at more than 60,000 miles an hour, generated huge amounts of heat which instantly liquidized millions of square kilometers of ice, destabilizing the Earth's crust and causing the global deluge that is remembered in myths all around the world.

A second series of impacts, equally devastating, causing further cataclysmic flooding, occurred 11,600 years ago, the exact date that Plato gave for the destruction and submergence of Atlantis. The evidence revealed in this book shows beyond reasonable doubt that an advanced civilization that flourished during the Ice Age was destroyed in the global cataclysms between 12,800 and 11,600 years ago. But there were survivors - known to later cultures by names such as 'the Sages', 'the Magicians', 'the Shining Ones', and 'the Mystery Teachers of Heaven'. They travelled the world in their great ships, doing all in their power to keep the spark of civilization burning. They settled at key locations - Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, Baalbek in Lebanon, Giza in Egypt, ancient Sumer, Mexico, Peru, and across the Pacific, where a huge pyramid has recently been discovered in Indonesia.

Everywhere they went these 'Magicians of the Gods' brought with them the memory of a time when mankind had fallen out of harmony with the universe and paid a heavy price. A memory and a warning to the future...

For the comet that wrought such destruction between 12,800 and 11,600 years may not be done with us yet. Astronomers believe that a 20-mile wide 'dark' fragment of the original giant comet remains hidden within its debris stream and threatens the Earth. An astronomical message encoded at Gobekli Tepe, and in the Sphinx and the pyramids of Egypt, warns that the 'Great Return' will occur in our time....

Important new discoveries about our history

Hancock is a true journalist dedicated to researching and presenting the facts. In Magicians, he presents to us the most recent discoveries about our history in a clear and understandable format. While we wait for our education system to gain and assimilate this new knowledge it is important for us to inform ourselves of what archeologists, geologists and unbiased experts have uncovered. After the first chapter I bought this book for every important person in my life.

Freed from petty existntialism

As I’m about to embark on a world investigative journey on astrophysics, this book came at the perfect time, and it has shifted my thinking, or more like complemented and clarified my understanding of why I am on this planet, why I value the spirituality of my scientific mind, and what my focus and goals are for my journey onwards. Can’t recommend this more in an era where facebook likes, selfies and divisive public show of the cult of personality are the norm. Humbling, and thought cleansing.

Thought provoking

Had to listen to some chapters a few times for it to sink in. Thought provoking and really puts the long accepted version of our past in serious doubt. Highly recommend it

Entertaining, thought provoking

Graham Hancock's central thesis is convincing but frays at the edges. Very well read though.

Absolutely Amazing

I listened to this book after Fingerprints of the Gods and I think it was masterfully told. It contains new information and the author is careful not to rehash anything that is detailed in any of his other books. Once more Graham Hancock has done an absolutely fabulous job with the reading. His voice is so great to listen to. Highly recommend.

The future history of our past!

Having heard so much about this subject matter and read around it, it has been highly anticipated. Delivered by Graham Hancock himself, it was a real treat, who else can do his book more justice!?

A fascinating account to our own human evolution of civilisation that raises some very important questions. This alternative take on history needs to become main stream and the history books need to be re-written. These theory's have been gathering speed and continue to do so, with a range of factual scientific evidence that grows everyday.

Graham Hancock does an excellent job of drawing together information from a variety of fields and sources, and adds to this his imagination of what may of come before us.

So good. So much information.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Profound and extremely interesting. There is such an abundance of overwhelming information in this book that left me with an even greater respect for the ancient civilizations of earth. And I also couldn't help but to feel a strong sense of spirituality after concluding everything and in my own intellectually frail attempt to tie it all together. But the message was very clear in the end. Great work Mr.Hancock!
