Publisher's summary

"I suspect the real breakthroughs in our understanding of consciousness are going to come from an entirely different direction. That direction, controversially, has to do with psychedelics - which, as many of the contributors to The Divine Spark argue, offer spectacular potential for the investigation of the 'hard problem' of consciousness." (from the introduction by Graham Hancock)

Psychedelics: Medicinal? Vital in interspecies communication or communion with the sacred? Helpful for reaching enlightenment or damaging to the brain? In this anthology, edited by best-selling author Graham Hancock, 22 writers illuminate the topic of psychedelics and consciousness like never before.

Travel to South America, the American Southwest, outer space, inner space, and back in time to revisit Pahnke's The Good Friday experiment. Explore the effects of ayahuasca, LSD, and much more.

The contributors to this volume are Mike Alivernia, Russell Brand, David Jay Brown, Paul Devereux, Rick Doblin, Ede Frecska, Alex Grey, Nassim Haramein, Martina Hoffmann, Don Lattin, Luis Eduardo Luna, Dennis McKenna, Thad McKraken, Rak Razam, Gabriel Roberts, Thomas B. Roberts, Gregory Sams, Robert M. Schoch, Mark Seelig, Rick Strassman, Robert Tindall, and, of course, Graham Hancock. A supplemental PDF is included with this audiobook.

Great writer

Graham has become my favorite writer from the stories he tells to the and how he tells from from personal experiences and research and being able to share and relate to both sides of his results from research etc. and not being one sided.

Fascinating!

Thank you, Graham Hancock and all other contributors to this fascinating window into the Psychedelic possibilities and processes suppressed by our fearful political machinery. I appreciate your research into the historical records and also your courage to experience these altered states, yourselves. I appreciate the audio format, this book was very well read and will certainly listen again. Love and blessings to all.

Mixed review

What could have been an awesome topic (and to give credit some of the essays were indeed awesome) this overall compilation often devolved into an outdated political diatribe or lectures of the modern leftist world. Since the writing of this book "the movement" has become "the establishment", the "war on drugs" a war on carbon, feminism is replacing paternalism and order has been replaced by chaos. The Green Movement has moved to a point of becoming a Totalitarianism. It is anti-industrial and driving society out of balance. The good intentions of the Green Movement threatens to become an enslaving establishment. Global Warming has failed. It had to be renamed Climate Change. Well if anything is true climate changes with or without human intervention. We need to strike a balance between chaos and order. Neither should be abolished. I think the Divine Spark would have better served the readership had it sought balance between us moving into outer space as well as into inner space, the modern and the ancient, intelligence and wisdom.
