About this listen

Lisette Gibbons has courage and steel. Having made the dangerous crossing from England to New York as a girl, losing her beloved Mammy, and keeping house for her often absent Dadda, she has few friends to turn to when trouble strikes. She reaches out of her small world to find that there are many people who are glad to help, but she fears them learning her dark secret.

Merle Shipley loves his life. He enjoys running the town's busy postal office and has big ambitions for it. But he feels something may be missing. Watching so many of his friends find love has made him think about building a family, now his business is doing so well. But will his generous heart make him lose out when he offers sanctuary to a woman he has never even met?

English Miss Considers Faith Creek's USPS Clerk

Merle, the font of knowledge clerk of the Faith Creek post office, steps up from Secondary character to male lead, as he seeks love with an English miss who has faced family trauma. Works well as stand alone. Clean, sweet, less than 2 hours.

enjoyable listen

I liked Lisette's story. I thought she was a person of good character. When life hit her hard she did what she thought was right. I think I might of done something similar had I lived back then and been faced with the same thing. I thought she was believable and was glad that she found her perfect match. I enjoyed listening to the narrator once again. I can't say enough nice things about this author and narrator. I would recommend the Faith Creek Brides to anyone who enjoys historical romance reads that center around mail order brides.

Sweet Historical Romance

Another very enjoyable tale set in Faith Creek! This one is about the post master and an immigrant woman from the tenements of NYC. Karla definitely keeps these stories vivid and unique! A lot gets packed into a short story! The narrator has continued to do a great job and I’m pleased he’s been the same narrator throughout this series!

loved

All the books in this series are fantastic. The stories are different, short, and entertaining. The narrator, Alan Taylor, is as always fantastic in bringing this book to life.

If the bride was a real person I would think she was crazy. Certifiably bona fide crazy!

In mail order bride books I give the author a lot of leeway. They get things historically wrong they try to pass off 21st century opinions on someone who lives in the 1800s, but I let it go I love these books. This book isn’t A contributor to bad historical knowledge or 21st centuries opinions it’s the fact that Lysette who was running from where she lives because she thought she did something that she did no the sheriff would be coming after her for. She hemmed and hard about OK… First of all he let her stay in his house while he stayed above the barn at his friends house the first morning he comes to check on her she says she doesn’t deserve to live in such opulence that she would stay above the board. No either she’s an imbecile or she knew he would say no you’re not staying in the barn you’re staying here.. Then when she thinks he’s going to ask her to marry him she then… Now keep in mind he said he sent for her she took a train she stayed in his house blah blah blah after all that she says I’m not a good marriage material you would do so much better going in another direction or whatever she said the point is she knew what he was going to say either she stupid I just thought the girl ruined it for me she just play victim an idiot too many times and I’ve gone back-and-forth with I’m in idiot oh no I’m a victim oh I’m an idiot I just got on my last nerve. If you like boring I’m a victim drama read this book.
