About this listen

The well-educated daughter of a lawyer, Trudy Bauer, arrives at the St. Louis based Mail-Order Brides of the West agency full of excitement for an adventure of a lifetime. She befriends the agency's maid, Evie Davenport, and the two form a strong and lasting friendship. They vow to stay in contact through letters when Evie takes hold of her destiny and arranges a marriage on the sly. Each brave young woman is ready to face whatever an unknown groom and life in Montana can throw her way.

In Fyffe's Novel, house servant Evie Davenport travels by stagecoach to Y Knot, Montana in a McCutcheon Family Novel. In Holland's book, bride-to-be Trudy Bauer rides the train to Sweetwater Springs, in a Montana Sky Novel. Through their correspondence, the friends keep each other abreast of their hardships, trials and tribulations - some of heartbreak, some of love.

Love this series.

The characters are endearing and I love the story. Evie doesn't want to be a maid all of her life, she wants to be a wife and mother. She takes matters into her own hands when she takes one of the letters out of the post and answers it herself instead of going through the agency. She immediately falls in love with Chance, but can't bring herself to tell him that she wasn't entirely truthful. Will Chance love her when he finds out the truth?

Sweet story that sweeps the reader off her feet!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Definately a wonderful story that uplifts and entertains.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mail-Order Brides of the West: Evie (McCutcheon Family Series - Book 3)?

Suspense over the romance coming together after misunderstanding. I could not stop listening to the story!

Which character – as performed by Lara Asmundson – was your favorite?

Loved Evie. I felt that Ms. Asmundson did an excellent job making all the characters come to life. Her interpretation of the characters was similiar to my own as I had already read the book myself.

If you could rename Mail-Order Brides of the West: Evie (McCutcheon Family Series - Book 3), what would you call it?

Chance of a Lifetime.

Any additional comments?

Fyffe's books are uplifting and fun. They are just what I am looking for in a book. Her stories bring out the underlying goodness in people and inspire a person to be kinder to others.

Totally hooked.

Great books. I liked the narrator in books one and two better. But the story line is so good I'd listen to anyone read them.

Mail Order Brides Gets Luck in Love!

Would you consider the audio edition of Mail-Order Brides of the West: Evie (McCutcheon Family Series - Book 3) to be better than the print version?

I haven't seen any other version but I don't feel I missed anything. Listening is nice and Lara Asmundson makes it nice to hear the story

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mail-Order Brides of the West: Evie (McCutcheon Family Series - Book 3)?

When he came racing after Evie on his horse when she was just going to the mailbox.

What about Lara Asmundson’s performance did you like?

I like Lara's narration because she actually makes it sould like Evie is reading me her story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Since I listened to 'Trudy' first I was fascinated that both authors seem to find it important for the med to build their wives a chicken coop. Of course in this case, he just doesn't want to eat anymore potatoes. Lol

Any additional comments?

I would reacommend this series to anyone fascinated with the idea of women with no apparent prospects in their own towns, setting themselves up to marry a stranger in the 'wild' west. It has endless possibilities and these authors have captured the heart of the idea.

A Delightful Continuation of the Mail-Order Brides

Evie is not supposed to be a mail-order bride, just serve them as they wait for their future husbands to claim them. She wants a husband and home of her own though, so one day she sneaks one of the letters from a potential husband and answers it on her own and then sneaks away to meet her future.

Chase looks forward to his new bride, but cannot bring himself to admit that he is not ready for her. He falls for this beautiful eastern woman but is not sure why a "rich" city girl would want to live in the wilds of Montana in the middle of nowhere.

Both have secrets that could tear them apart, but can they find that love just may overcome all that is hidden?

Evie was my favorite minor character in Debra Holland's Montana Sky Series. I really enjoyed this story. I wanted to find out what happened to Evie and Caroline Fyffe did an amazing job keeping the feel of Montana Sky, but also giving her own voice for this installment of The McCutcheon Family Series. Lara Asmundson did a great job continuing the stories of the mail-order brides of Montana.
