About this listen

Here is the second edition of the best-selling, number one-rated business book that has transformed lives and businesses worldwide through five reprints.

You're too busy making money. No business can survive that.

Includes:

  • How to build a business that makes money while you're on vacation
  • Why businesses never grow up, and how yours can
  • How to move your business from survival, through success, to significance
  • How to grow a business quickly that you can enjoy for decades
  • Reference guide available from Audible.com with full-color graphs and illustrations

The second edition of Making Money is Killing Your Business is built on profoundly simple ideas that have been around forever and ignored as being too simple to work. Chuck Blakeman has learned the hard way that profound things are always simple. Practical tools such as the Four Building Blocks, Seven Stages of Business Ownership, Business Owner's Game, Freedom Mapping, 2-Page Strategic Plan, Lifetime Goals and many others will revolutionize any business willing to give up complexity for effectiveness. Get off the treadmill. Making Money helps business owners move from a focus on trying to make money to building a business that does it for them when they are not around. It debunks the idea that small business is a 30-year grind and introduces the concept of building a business in just three to five years that runs itself.

Making Money also replaces the traditional concept of retirement with using your business to quickly build your Ideal lifestyle, moving you and your business from survival through success to significance. Your business should produce both time and money, not just money. This book helps business owners make more money in less time, get back to the passion that brought them into business in the first place, and build a business they can enjoy for decades.

Do you want to get off the treadmill? Listen to Making Money Is Killing Your Business and build a business you'll love!

Get Your Business to Stage 5 and Beyond

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. If you benefited from reading The E-Myth Revisited this will be a really nice follow-up. It is very practical for the present-day entrepreneur looking to grow his/her business and lead a meaningful life. I've listened to it several times in just a few months.

Coming back to this book after failing at business

Do not listen to a word of this book and take it to heart if you will not do ALL of the things. I used this as an excuse to quit my stable job and go out on my own, I hired and scaled way too rapidly but I never put any systems or processes into place because that didn’t interest me.

This is not a buffet, it’s a recipe for disaster if you pick and choose which things you will do.

Now that I’ve been chewed up and spit out I’m rereading the book that started it all and my eyes are wide open to my blind spots. Now I know why it’s so important to be all about processes. I just thought I could hire talented people and have them document the processes but they procrastinated and avoided it because having expertise was their job security.

If you’re going base your business on this book make sure to review all of the materials and re-read it frequently. Otherwise you will just do the parts that are interesting to you and have a dysfunctional business.

I’m glad I came back to this book before giving up on my dream. I can turn it around if I actually put it all into practice.

Fantastic— stop playing office!! GET MOVING

Chuck the author hit in on the spot wit his term, “your just playing office”.

Us entrepreneurs listen to books, watch webinars and go to seminars for some type of silver bullet to fix our business.

While this book could be another example of that learning but not doing loop I and so many other business people do. It is not. It is the one book that I actually stopped reading because chuck told me that if your up to this point in the book and didn’t do the exercises your just playing office.

Funny but brutally honest way to look at procrastination.

I stopped, did the exercises and now have finished the book but not the exercises.

I’m looking forward to joining my local 3to5 group to master mind and move forward!

Thanks Chuck!

Eye opening with no fluff

Really good information, some of which challenged my thinking and ways of doing business. No fluff, just really sound suggestions. I will buy the workbook/book now because there are exercises that I want to do that didn't translate in the audiobook well enough for me to implement them.

I would listen to this again, though, to keep my thoughts focuses on the right areas for growth. Thanks, Chuck.

awesome blueprint to focus

this is not a great book for reading only while commuting. It is very practical with some stop and do it exercise that will help you gain clarity on where you are going and when you will get there.

Nice idea, but over simplified

As other business experts will tell you, the best way to amplify your efforts is to hire a team of people to allow you to work on what you do best. The problem, is that this book (along with many others), make hiring these people sound as easy as picking a snack from a vending machine. As a business owner for almost the last two decades, assembling a team of qualified and motivated people is harder than anything! On another note, I did like the chapter on strategic planning.
