Publisher's summary

"Clever...entertaining...excellent" (Library Journal) original vampire stories by Charlaine Harris, Jim Butcher, Kelley Armstrong, and more.

From cakes to stakes, a celebration of everyone's favorite bloodsucking subculture by a baker's dozen of favorite authors. Each of these 13 original stories offers a fresh and unique take on what birthdays mean to the undead. From Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse attending a birthday party for Dracula to Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden battling bloodsucking party crashers, these suspenseful, surprising, sometimes dark, sometimes humorous stories will ensure paranormal fans will never think of vampires or birthdays quite the same again.

A Mixed Bag, mostly in a good way

A collection of short stories about vampires and birthdays. I was already familiar with some of the authors (and characters) in the anthology, but most were pleasant surprises. My only notable disappointment was that Jim Butcher's contribution, "It's My Birthday, Too" was not read by James Marsters, the regular, and deservedly popular, narrator of the Dresden Files series. Marsters' version can be heard in Side Jobs, a collection of Dresden short fiction.

Not the original narrators

I would like to know why these are not the original narrators. Those of us who listen to these stories come to love these voices. This is one of my favorite books. Just not the same.
