About this listen

In the alleys of Edinburgh, someone is killing for profit…

Scotland has a dead body problem. Another one. And in the wake of a similar spate of tribute killings, Special Agents Luke Kendrick and Carly MacDonald know they have their work cut out for them. Working alongside a new team of agents, the partners have more questions than answers when the crime scenes yield little evidence. In the style of infamous killers Burke and Hare, it appears victims are being moved to a secondary location, where they’re dissected and sold for spare parts.

With the clock ticking on every organ being harvested, the members of Blackbird know the killers must be near at hand, and soon discover that they’re also being closed in on. As questions begin to arise about the newest additions to their team, Luke and Carly are running out of time—and people they can trust—to catch the killers before the agents themselves are the next to be put on ice.

Nothing it was a great adventure! The description of Scotland was good for someone that has never been there.

Wonderful and new story.

Too much preaching but the story line was good.
Kept me wondering! Overall a very good story

Too much preaching but other than that it’s a great book

The only way that H. G. could improve the listening experience of her books would be to add a female narrator & use the Duet Narration style! Other than that her writing style is perfect!

Another great story from H. G.

Interesting details about Scotland. Another Blackbird mystery to solve and lots of twists as they figure it out !

Long case

Good story, characters lack charm or real personality. Too many “he said” “she said” rather than different voices to delineate who was saying what.

Plodding

This book takes place in Scotland. The narrator made very little differentiation between characters. It was very difficult to follow the storyline because everyone sounded the same and there were so many characters. It was especially irritating that the author wrote the Scottish characters speaking in the Scottish vernacular. It just sounded stupid with no Scottish accent. Also, the plot was really thin. A killer or killers are drugging people to steal their organs for transplant. You can’t just randomly drug “healthy looking” people and kidnap/kill them for immediate transplants for rich people. The book just didn’t make sense. There have to be tests to determine compatibility beforehand. I might have forgiven this major problem if there had been a decent narrator. Over the past several years narration of audiobooks has become an art. Some have one narrator who is adept at making distinct voices that are recognizable throughout the story. Others have multiple narrators who weave the narration like a play. This narrator fell short. I will not purchase another book read by this narrator.

The plot was thin and there wasn’t a Scottish burr anywhere in this book.

I had hoped this would be better than the first book in the series, but alas, it is not. Writing is formal and stilted. Narrator is choppy. There is no real difference in the voices between characters. Like book 1, I made it to chapter 4, gave up, and went to the next to the last chapter. I usually love the regular Krewe books, but this specific collection just isn't as good. Save your money and buy one of the regular Krewe of Hunter stories.
