About this listen

Move over boomers, Xers, and millennials; there's a new generation - making up more than 25 percent of the US population - that represents a seismic cultural shift. Born approximately between 1993 and 2012, generation Z is the first truly post-Christian generation, and they are poised to challenge every church to rethink its role in light of a rapidly changing culture.

From the award-winning author of The Rise of the Nones comes this enlightening introduction to the youngest generation. James Emery White explains who this generation is, how it came to be, and the impact it is likely to have on the nation and the faith. Then he reintroduces us to the ancient countercultural model of the early church, arguing that this is the model Christian leaders must adopt and adapt if we are to reach members of generation Z with the Gospel. He helps listeners rethink evangelistic and apologetic methods, cultivate a culture of invitation, and communicate with this connected generation where they are. Pastors, ministry leaders, youth workers, and parents will find this an essential and hopeful resource.

The opportunity to reflect on the chapters previously read with the discussion questions

I think this book was very informative not only on the Christian world or generation Z, but as a church how we view Christianity and religion. It allows readers to go beyond their own understanding of what Christianity means to them and understand what it means to others. The None and how we are moving forward in society and culture.

Narrator needed more life

The narrator was quite monotone. However, he made no mistakes in his reading. Enjoyed it.

Relevant and relatable

Excellent book, needs to be balanced a bit with something like "Letters to the Church" by Fran Chan, but I love what James Emery has to share in this must read book. I believe it's important to be relevant and relatable in order to share Jesus and this helped me get there. The sermons offered at the end are priceless! Worth every penny! I've listened to this book numerous times and have recommended it to everyone I know.

Pastoral care for generation Z

James Emery White outlines the transitional issues, that generation Z has when facing Christianity. He offers a worldview example for generation Z and he also offers solutions for how to disciple and evangelize that worldview. James is objective, compassionate, apologetic, and biblical covering topics, such as pornography, homosexuality, and evolution.

A Must Read for Church Leaders

Where does Meet Generation Z rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

James Emery White breaks the felt barriers between those leading churches today and the largest up and coming generation since before the boomers. His approach blends biblical conviction with modern research that points to action and hope rather than just our problems and disheartening statistics. I believe this book can help churches find the curve that we have so often felt we were behind.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Meet Generation Z?

I love hearing about the practical applications that Mecklenburg Community Church has developed as a result of the research and conclusions of this book.

Have you listened to any of Rudy Sanda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Liberal, old Earth/evolutionary teaching.

I didn't agree with all of this theology and how he changes scripture to fit it to science. But he has a good understanding of the next generation.

A real Eye Opener

This book got me thinking differently about the way I look at and evaluate our youth. The author brought out several key points that I will use and pass on.

Great for Christians in leadership

Facebook is extremely helpful for understanding the culture of the current generation is growing up in. This is a must-read for any Christian in a leadership position of any capacity. Very telling and very well written. The voice narration wasn't great at the start but it gets better as the book goes on.
