About this listen
Seasons change, and so do fashion trends. But in this heartstring-tugging PsyCop short, what's beneath the clothes matters most.
Do clothes make the man? Jacob Marks cuts an impressive figure in his tailored suits, but Victor Bayne is another story. Nowadays, Vic does his ghosthunting in off-the-rack blazers, polyester blend slacks and cop shoes with nonskid soles. But back before he was a PsyCop - or even officially psychic - he rocked combat boots and a beat up biker jacket, and lots and lots of punk T-shirts. When he finds a faded tee in the back of a drawer, he's eager to lob it in the trash. Jacob, however, finds himself waxing sentimental about Vic's younger, more carefree days.
This steamy 5000-word PsyCop short in Jacob's voice takes place after PsyCop #6, GhosTV.

Story
Victor Bayne, the psychic half a PsyCop team, is a gay medium who's more concerned with flying under the radar than in making waves. He hooks up with handsome Jacob Marks, a non-psychic (or "Stiff") from an adjacent precinct at his ex-partner's retirement party, and it seems like his dubious luck has taken a turn for the better. But then a serial killer surfaces who can change his appearance to match any witness' idea of the world's hottest guy.

Story
A psychic without an anchor. A student in trouble. A shooter on the loose.I’m Jonathan Bane, a licensed psychic who consults for the police. I routinely help the police put the bad guys away and, for that reason, the criminal world doesn’t like me much. People like to take a swing at me, or go stabbity, or try for a gun. It makes for interesting times. My psychic ability prevents me from handling anything electronic—and I do mean ANYTHING, I fry it in seconds—so calling for help isn’t always a possibility.

For "Constant Readers" and neophytes alike, all of the dark tales herein are intense, eerie, and instantly compelling. King "develops characters and atmosphere more fully in the span of 50 pages than many authors can in a full novel," says Amazon.com.

Story
Picking up a small, pink shoe from the grass forever changed young Jackson Lee’s life. Not only did its presence mean that his sister Tessa was dead - murdered and stuffed in the deep, black water of a narrow well - but the shoe itself told him so. Tessa’s death triggers an even more horrific family massacre that, combined with this new talent he neither wants nor can handle, throws Jack’s life into a tailspin. The years quickly take him from state homes to the streets to grifting in a seedy carnival, until he finally becomes the cynical All Seeing Eye, psychic-for-hire. At last, Jackson has left his troubled past behind and found a semblance of peace....

Very enjoyable!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this to any fans of the PsyCop series. It's a shorter audiobook, but the story is fantastic and the narration is incredibly well done.
What other book might you compare Memento to and why?
Any of the other PsyCop novels.
What does Gomez Pugh bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He captures these tiny nuances of Jacob's character. Audio book narrators should have a calm, soothing voice, but not so bland that they put you to sleep. But they should also have character, and Gomez absolutely nails it.
If you could take any character from Memento out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Probably Vic. I feel like we'd get along pretty well.
Any additional comments?
I will listen to anything read by Gomez Pugh, his narration is really excellent!

Great short story
Loved it. Classic JCP. As always, Gomez Pugh did a great job. If you’ve read a JCPs other stuff you have to read this.

Sexy Addition
**Audiobook Review**
This was an adorable... and hot short for my two favorite men. I love that we get to see a tiny bit of Jacob and Vic outside of crime and spirits and what their life is like when things are normal.
Plus, it was nice to get to see a bit of things from Jacob's POV for once.
As usual, Gomez did a great job with the narrating too.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Inked Rainbow Reads.

Good pallet cleanser
I highly recommend reading this book in order. Getting a Jacob POV is important so you can balance the way he bulldozes Vic all the time. Seeing their story or life or love from his POV adds a lot to the story.

Jacob's view - my favorite short!
I think this is my favorite of all the little side stories. It is an amazingly sweet look at Vic through Jacob's eyes and it just GLOWS with his ardor. He loves Vic so, so much. Fascinating and so touching.
Gomez does such a nice job of showing us Jacob’s low key enthusiasm for his man here. It really made me want to cry, I was so touched.
I’m really glad that Jordan has said Gomez is going to do the entire “Briefs” in audio format so we can hear them all!
(I just love the lighting on this cover. It really captures that warm feeling this story evokes. Well done, all around.)

Quick listen
It was nice to hear (can't think of the guy's name) point of view. Gomez does a wonderful job of differentiating the voices.

It's only a sexual encounter
Aweful, it's only a sexual encounter, almost no story. Just the art of falacio. No different than any other book in the series, don't waste your memory net buy the full book.
