The outrageously inventive, exhilarating, sexually-charged thriller from Emmy Award-winning writer Phoef Sutton.
Carl moved into his childhood home after his parents died. It’s a house filled with fond memories...like when he was a teenager and his girlfriend, Jesse, would throw pebbles at his window at night to lure him outside for frantic sex. So he thinks he’s dreaming when late one night, he hears those pebbles hitting his window again...and there she is outside, aching for his touch. It’s only as they are ravaging each other again that he realizes it’s too good to be a dream.
It’s her. She’s back as if nothing has changed. But it has. For one thing, it’s been 20 years since high school. And she died three weeks ago.
Is she an impostor? A ghost? Or is the answer even more chilling? It’s just the beginning of a dangerous, unpredictable, and bizarre odyssey for them both...where nothing is what it seems...and every minute counts.

The premise is that a woman develops a brain/memory disorder in which she forgets her present life and regresses to when she was 18 years old and still a senior in high school. Even though she's over 30, she still thinks she is sneaking off the meet her boyfriend and her parents (long dead, in reality) will bust her if she is caught.
Furthermore, her disorder prevents her from making/holding on to any new memories for any longer than a few minutes at a time, so it's more than a little difficult for the few men in her life who seem to care about her to help her through her ordeals.
This book brings up the interesting philosophical point of whether someone is really damaged if they don't have any recall of being beaten, verbally abused, raped, etc. If they don't remember it, did it really "happen", at least in terms of there being a victim?
This book kept me guessing and had a terrific and satisfying ending, an ending which, in fact, lasted quite a while as all the loose ends were tied up. I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a good character-based thriller with a satisfying end.

: Phoef Sutton
This is an interesting listen. The characters make you love or hate them. There is plenty of suspense to keep the listener / reader held captive. I will look for more from this author.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Phoef Sutton narrarated his own work, which can be a bit dicey but in this case well done.

Fresh and interesting storyline
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
The basis for this book it heartbreaking, it's hard to imagine what it must be like to have no sort-term memory, to effectively live in 15 minute blocks, and the effect on the people around you are also devastating.
This concept is used very skillfully to create a book that had me gripped and desperate to know what would come next. Add in a cast of other characters who use Jesse's memory problems to their advantage and you get more complications that you can poke a stick at.
It a very interesting look into human nature and how people might act if the person they do something to isn't going to remember it in 15 minutes and can't tell anyone.
The narration is well done, the character voices are good and the delivery helped to convey the emotions and tensions in the story.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Inventive and filled with surprises

As I mentioned the book is narrated by the author himself. Not a lot of authors do this, often times with good reason. Writing a story and being able to deliver a quality narration are two vastly different talents. Being a narrator is truly a unique skill, and I have to give Phoef credit as he does a fairly admirable job, and I wouldn't be at all upset to listen to him again.
