About this listen
The average parent has approximately 950 weeks with a child before he leaves home. If they have a seven-year-old, they have 400 weekends left. How can families maximize this dwindling time? They can’t eliminate the distractions of modern life. They can’t give their kids a pill to keep them two forever. In fact, no amount of praying or repenting will give them the meaningful family they desire. What’s the solution? Create regular traditions that bring joy, significance, and memories to family life.
Popular blogger and mom of three, Jessica Smartt explains why memory-making is the puzzle piece that today’s families are longing for. She highlights 10 tradition-gifts kids need most and offers practical encouragement to modern parents to keep on adventuring - even when they are fighting distractions, are budget-pressed, and exhausted.
A rich resource of 200-plus unique traditions and beloved family recipes available in the audiobook companion PDF download.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

The stories we read--and the conversations we have about them--help shape family traditions, create lifelong memories, and become part of our legacy. Reading aloud not only has the power to change a family—it has the power to change the world. But we all know that connecting deeply with our families can be difficult in our busy, technology-driven society. Reading aloud is one of the best ways to be fully present with our children, even after they can read themselves, but it isn't always easy to do.

Love is important, but it is respect that is the key to your son's heart. The idea of moms respecting their sons may sound alien to some, but it seems to ignite curiosity across the board. It is easy to relate to the need for all of us to feel a mother's love, but is that the same thing as respect? Even for young boys, the effect of respect is nothing short of astounding when applied properly.

Motherhood is a challenge. Unfortunately, our worldly culture offers moms little in the way of real help. Mamas only connect to celebrate surviving another day and to share in their misery, rather than rejoice in what God has done and to build each other up in hard times. There has a be a better way, a biblical way, for mamas to grow and thrive. M Is for Mama offers advice, encouragement, and scripturally sound strategies seasoned with a little bit of humor to help you embrace the challenge of biblical motherhood and raise your children with love and wisdom.

Story
Our culture is self-obsessed - in our schedules, in our relationships, and especially online. (Can you say selfie?) But in this near-narcissism, people are less content than in decades past. Why? Because we forgot the joy that comes from putting others first. Doing so requires us to live alert, listening for "heart drops", hints from those in our lives who need a helping hand or a generous dose of encouragement. Living alert lifts our own spirits, showing us that blessing others blesses us even more.

Almost any parent you asked would tell you that they want their children to be happy, successful adults. But many of us forget (or never knew to begin with) that lasting personal joy is not necessarily found the way the world says it is - through reaching a certain socioeconomic status, having a certain job, buying a certain house, or having a certain amount in one's bank account. In fact, says Kristen Welch, author of Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World, personal satisfaction comes not from grabbing onto things but from holding them with an open hand and, very often, giving them away.

She unpacks the seven tenets of hygge: hospitality, relationships, well-being, atmosphere, comfort, contentment, and rest. In addition, Erickson shows how the external veneer of a lifestyle can create a life-giving home only when placed under the hope of the gospel. Holy Hygge provides practical ideas for using hygge to gather people and introduce them to faith in Christ.

The Value of Memory Making
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found myself inspired to embrace my particular season of life as a busy mom by intentionally creating special memories with my children. The message was poignant but not preachy… very practical and realistic for all ages of children, budgets, and bandwidths. I gobbled up the book in two days’ time and went out and bought a family celebrations calendar to map out our upcoming year. As a mom, I am realizing the value of memory making as a practice within my family, purposefully seeking out opportunities to cherish and celebrate times together. Highly recommend!

Excellent 💝 I absolutely loved this book 🥰
A beautiful gift for me as a mom and my Indian-Colombian family of 3. I cherished every moment of listening it and will share it with my husband too. Absolutely recommended for all families even if you come from a different religion and culture like us. All the activities suggested are so useful and so beautifully memorable to make ordinary moments extra special.

Brought me to tears
Jessica approaches traditions and making memories with your family in a humble and encouraging tone. She gives practical ideas and helps readers/listeners get to the heart of why these matter so much! Yes, it is geared towards Christians but there is still so much goodness and wisdom that even those who are not Jesus followers can still get something great out of this book. Thank you Jessica. I will continue to listen and read this book over and over.
