About this listen

Those who have made the decision to homeschool their children have done so out of great love for them and a desire to provide them an excellent education in the context of a warm, enriching home. Yet so many parents (mainly mothers) who have taken up this challenge find the enterprise often full of stress, worry, and anxiety. In this practical, faith-based, and inspirational book, Sarah Mackenzie addresses these questions directly, appealing to her own study of restful learning and her struggle to bring restful learning to her (six) children.

Highly Recommend

I highly recommend this to homeschool moms and to moms in general. Just what I needed to hear. I will definitely be getting the notes/work book. I will be listening to again very soon. I actually already listened to it twice.

Excellent book

This is an excellent book for anyone homeschooling. Especially those if us that have been doing so for many years.
You should know that the book is heavily Christian. As a Muslim I still found tremendous benefit from this book. The Bible verses were generally appropriate to the story and quite useful.
It was such a beautiful reminder of why we chose to homeschool and putting our priorities in order.
I highly recommend this book.

A Must Read

This book reminds me why I started homeschooling. It keeps fresh on my mind the important principles of school and learning. It has practical abvice that is very helpful. Most important, it emphasizes that God is our teacher and life is more than textbooks and test.

Points worth pondering

Listening to this book helped me realize that it really is okay to let somethings go and spend time playing doll with my little girl rather than cry (literally), over how I can not play with her because I have "far too many weeks of lesson plans to write". Teaching from Rest for me is about cultivating joy, peace, love, and moments of scholé with my children! Because I realize now that 20 years from now I will not say "I wished we did more math problems or wrote better dress-ups in our writing assignments!" However, I will probably wish that I can spend time with my little ones and so thank you Sarah Mackenzie for reminding me to find joy in Rest!

Hillary Ellis

This is the best homeschool book I've ever read in 9 years of homeschooling. I finished it in half a day. I couldn't turn it off.

Worth the read !

this book is worth the read whether you're a homeschool mom or a public/private school mom. it got me really thinking about what Michaels really were and what the outcome would be with my relationship with my kids and their relationship with God. was I conveying the messages that I hoped they received? and what should that look like. This book seems to coverall of that. Often with these kinds of books that are talking about idealisms, I always find myself saying," Sure that works in theory and maybe with your kid, but what about.... Teaching from Rrst seems to supersede all of that to the point where I didn't feel judged or cornered into a particular way of being but felt supported to do the things that I really wanted to do and be with my kids.

Great encouragement!

I was gifted this book from a friend. I am at the beginning of our homeschool journey and already feel the weight and overwhelm of many homeschooling choices. This book, for me, was an encouragement to cultivate my relationships with my children as I continue to strive to consistently educate them in the basics as well as the beautiful.
